    Genex Systems is looking for an Air Ops Technician to support the CMOE contract at NASA Langley research Center (LaRC). While the majority of work is directly in support of LaRC, other industry partners and Government agencies may be supported at remote sites as directed by the Contracting Officer (CO). The Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering (CMOE) contract comprises of three major categories of work – operations, maintenance, and engineering (OME). 

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Develops or reviews designs by extracting and analyzing a variety of engineering data. Applies conventional engineering practices to develop, prepare, or recommend schematics, designs, specifications, electrical drawings and parts lists. Conducts tests or experiments requiring selection and adaptation or modification of a wide variety of critical test equipment and test procedures; sets up and operates equipment; records data, measures and records problems of significant complexity that sometimes require resolution at a higher level; and analyzes data and prepares test reports. Applies methods outlined by others to limited segments of research and development projects; constructs experimental or prototype models to meet engineering requirements; conducts test or experiments and redesigns as necessary; and records and evaluates data and reports findings.

    U.S. Citizenship is required. Two (2) years of college with courses in computer science, mathematics, or related engineering courses, plus two (2) years of related experience in data reduction and analysis, or any equivalent  combination of relevant education and experience for a total of four (4) years. Experience with any power generating equipment is a plus.  

    • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in repairing mechanical systems such as pumps, valves, reciprocating/centrifugal engines and principle knowledge of engine/motor operations and its various components.  
    • Experienced in reading and identifying typical symbols on mechanical schematics/drawings. 
    • Experienced in the purpose, understanding and following of written standard operating procedures and guidelines. 
    • Knowledge of OSHA Red Tag and equipment Lockout/Tagout standards, and plant/equipment maintenance and reliability is a plus.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Work Environment Office environment. (75%). Test/Industrial Environment – May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals and industrial facilities. (85%) Travel between facilities and test operations may be required and may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment and chemical operations. (5%) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must have sufficient mobility to enter into confined spaces, crawl into or onto various assemblies while maintaining a clear vision of safety is required. Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants and the like. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs. (10%) EQUIPMENT AND MACHINES Facility operations display/keyboards/mechanical/electrical control/HMI. Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, copier, etc.) (30%) ATTENDANCE Regular attendance mandatory (100%) Overtime/work outside normal schedule required (<20%) Travel required (<<5%) OTHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere. Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others. The work environment requires the ability to cooperate and work with individuals at all levels of the company and the client. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required. Employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed. Your SPA is a Company provided tool to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries; as such, it is the most important tool that you are required to use. A valid driver's license is required.
