Genex Systems is looking for a talented Structures Laboratory Engineering Technician to support the FHWA infrastructure research program. The program focuses on using innovative materials, innovative designs, innovative construction processes, and innovative rehabilitation solutions. This includes the use of advanced materials such as ultra-high performance concrete and non-portland cement-based concretes; the use of advanced bridge component fabrication technologies such as novel welding, bolting, casting, and three-dimensional printing techniques; and the use of innovative construction technologies. Projects conducted in the Structures Laboratory have typically been applied research relying on the full-scale testing of steel and concrete bridges and their components. This may include physical experiments in hydraulically operated test frames, design and fabrication of testing equipment and specimens, field testing, analysis of laboratory and field data, and computational structural mechanics (CSM) modeling. The reports generated from these projects have served as references that justify changes to the American Association of State and Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Bridge Design Specifications, AASHTO Manual for Bridge Evaluation, AASHTO LRFD Bridge Construction Specifications, ASTM standards and procedures, and publications of the Research Council of Structural Connections.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The expert technician will assist with the execution of research projects and maintain the state of good repair of the laboratory.
