JOB SUMMARY

Genomic Expression Inc is searching for a bioinformatics or computational biology student or recent graduate, who is available now to fill an internship position that has the potential to lead to longer term employment.

You will be employed in a functional area focused on the development of new methods for generation for Next Generation Sequencing focused on diagnostic applications. You will have the opportunity to work within a small entrepreneurial team that offers significant growth opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Assist with routine operation of our sequencing bioinformatic analysis pipeline
• Monitor sequencing data quality and create quality summaries
• Help create and optimize new bioinformatics pipelines
• Perform analysis of experimental data sets and present results to the lab team
• Develop novel R scripts and R shiny applications to further analyze and visualize tumor data
• Assist with data management and organization
• Help write and test data-related protocols and SOPs

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

We prefer candidates that have:

• Experience analyzing DNA or RNA sequencing data
• Four or more years of programming experience
• At least 1 year of experience with R
• Broad experience within genetics, molecular biology or very closely related subjects
• The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• The urge to excel and achieve results
• Qualify for the Massachusetts Life Science Center Internship Program
