Overview: A young adult diagnosed with severe autism and obsessive-compulsive disorder, requires constant care to ensure his safety and well-being. Due to his medical needs and behavioral challenges, the client needs a dedicated caregiver to assist him with daily activities, personal hygiene, and to provide a structured and safe environment. Candidates with a background in behavioral support or management are highly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

Personal Hygiene and Care:

Assist with daily bathing, brushing teeth, and grooming.

Provide full assistance with dressing and undressing.

Monitor and assist with toileting, including cleaning and changing soiled clothes.

Help with hand washing and maintaining cleanliness after meals and toileting.

Support with shower routine, ensuring his safety and hygiene.

Meals and Nutrition:

Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.

Assist with eating, ensuring he doesn’t choke and helping him use utensils.

Monitor to prevent him from throwing food or drinks.

Clean up after meals and help with simple tasks like taking his dishes to the sink.

Behavioral Support:

Manage the client's aggressive behaviors, including biting, pinching, and punching himself and others.

Use calming techniques during outbursts.

Monitor the client to prevent him from engaging in dangerous behaviors, such as running outside or putting non-edible items in his mouth.

Daily Activities:

Assist with laundry, ensuring all soiled clothes and bed linens are washed and stored properly.

Keep the living environment clean and safe.

Qualifications:

Experience working with individuals with severe autism and OCD is highly preferred.

Ability to manage and de-escalate aggressive behaviors.

Strong understanding of personal care and hygiene assistance.

Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Physical ability to assist with restraining during outbursts if necessary.

Monday-Friday

40 hours a week

10am-6pm

8 hour shift
