Our clinic is expanding and we’re looking for a veterinary assistant to help us provide first-class patient care! You’ll be responsible for working directly with our veterinary technician (nurse) staff to record patient histories, collect test samples, and assist with examinations. You will also be responsible for animal care, building, instrument, and room cleanliness. Our ideal candidate preferably has some experience working in a veterinary office performing clinical tasks or in an administrative role and knows how to build an excellent rapport with people. Responsibilities: Record patient vital signs including body temperature, respiration rate, blood pressure, and pulse and add the information to their chart Make sure examination rooms are ready for patients by ensuring they’re well-stocked and at a comfortable temperature and that all equipment is sterilized Assist healthcare staff with examinations by handing the appropriate medical instrument and supplies to the physician, positioning the patient, and helping with other tasks as needed Speak with the patient about the reason for their visit and record their personal information and medical history to share with the healthcare staff Draw blood and prepare blood samples for laboratory tests under supervision Qualifications: Work experience as a medical assistant performing admin duties or similar role in a healthcare work environment preferred High school graduate or has GED Ability use a computer to complete administrative tasks Solid communication and customer service skills Compensation: $10 - $11 hourly
