Mergers & Acquisitions Associate Genz & Associates, LLC - Santa Monica, CA $45,000 - $55,000 a year - Full-time, Commission The primary responsibility of the Mergers & Acquisitions Associate will be to build deep relationships with business owners in order to source new investment opportunities for our private equity, family office and corporate clients. Candidates will be creating business relationships for a significant part of the day. Warm calling to sophisticated owners of privately held companies is a large part of the role. Candidates must be professional, as they will be interacting with senior professionals such as Partners, Managing Directors, C level executives. Weekly and daily interactions with private equity clients (mostly by phone but also through email and in-person meetings) will center on discussions including, but not limited to, industries and sub-industries of interest, recently closed deals, active acquisition searches, and current M&A market trends. Our clients success is predicated on the success of the Business Development team. Genz is looking for a candidate that wants to be in the role long-term and will offer a significant amount of upward mobility for a successful professional. The position will offer a long-term career path at Genz in the deal origination function and the individual will build a valuable professional and personal network as they get experience in the role. In addition to salary, there is an aggressive and lucrative commision/bonus structure. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES · Deal Origination (75% of time) · Communicate regularly and build deep relationships with C-Level executives and business owners in a variety of industries · Qualifying businesses to identify their interest in a transaction and details on ownership structure, revenue, EBITDA, customer concentration and growth strategy · Communicate our clients interest and distinct advantages as an investor · Manage a pipeline of opportunities from origination to deal close · Build relationships with capital providers, including private equity groups, family offices, high net worth individuals, and corporate acquirers · Account Management (10%) · Process new deals by logging them into a CRM · Provide a written profile on each opportunity to present to potential buyers · Manage a pipeline of opportunities from origination to deal close · Communicate our clients interest and provide feedback to business owners · Industry Research (15%) · Working with the research team to develop a target list of companies that meets the criteria of our client · Work to identify new investment strategies in various sectors · Detail and present case studies based on industry attractiveness Training Includes: · Education investing in the private market by private equity groups, family offices and corporate/strategic acquires · M&A terminology · High level, high touch consulting sales training · Client account management · Salesforce Database · Research techniques Qualifications · Undergraduate degree preferably within business with history of strong academic performance · 3 + years of experience in a business development role with a track record of success · Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel, Word & PowerPoint) · Superior organizational and time management skills, and the ability to efficiently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment · Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, problem-solving, interpersonal and relationship-building skills · Proficiency in Salesforce a plus (not required) Attributes · Enthusiastic, personable, positive attitude, and high integrity · Indefatigable / persistent, pro-active, self-motivated with the ability to work under limited supervision · Passionate about building relationships and networking at a professional and personal level · Ability to learn quickly and have the ability to grasp financial / business terminology and concepts · Demonstrated maturity, integrity and the ability to perform in an entrepreneurial environment Compensation and benefits: Salary: Base ranges from $45,000 to $55,000 annually and there is an aggressive and lucrative commission/bonus structure.
