Turner Staffing Group is recruiting a Geology Manager for a direct-hire leadership opportunity with a growing mining operation in Nevada. This role will lead all geological functions at an active mine site while serving as a critical technical advisor supporting resource growth, operational optimization, and long-term strategic initiatives.
This is a senior leadership role suited for a technically strong geologist who combines operational mine geology expertise with exploration strategy, resource estimation, and due diligence capabilities.
Position Overview
The Geology Manager will oversee mine geology, ore control, and resource development activities while contributing to exploration strategy and technical evaluations. As a member of the site leadership team, this role manages geology budgets, builds and develops a high-performing geology team, and represents geological expertise in operational and strategic contexts.
The schedule is 4 days on / 3 days off, with potential flexibility for limited remote work depending on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Exploration & Resource Growth
Develop and execute near-mine and brownfield exploration strategies
Generate and prioritize drill targets using mapping, geochemistry, geophysics, structural analysis, and historical data
Plan, manage, and interpret RC and core drilling programs with rigorous QA/QC protocols
Evaluate drill results and update geological interpretations and resource models
Maintain and grow the exploration pipeline
Resource Estimation & Technical Reporting
Lead or oversee resource and reserve estimates compliant with SEC, NI 43-101, or equivalent standards
Maintain geological databases and ensure data integrity
Prepare and review technical reports and internal resource summaries
Coordinate with external Qualified Persons and auditors as required
Mine Geology & Operational Support
Direct daily ore control and grade control programs to optimize recovery
Maintain and reconcile geological block models (Leapfrog, Vulcan, or similar)
Analyze production variances and implement corrective actions
Support metallurgical domain delineation and heap leach operations
Oversee structural mapping and geotechnical considerations
Support hydrogeologic monitoring and dewatering programs
Leadership & Management
Lead and develop the geology team (hiring, performance management, succession planning)
Manage departmental budgets (drilling, staffing, consultants, software, assaying)
Establish SOPs and enforce data quality standards
Represent geology in site leadership and cross-functional planning meetings
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with MSHA and environmental regulations
Promote a strong, visible safety culture
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Mining Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field
12–15 years of progressive mine geology and/or exploration experience
Strong experience managing drill programs from target generation through interpretation
Proficiency with 3D modeling software (Leapfrog, Vulcan, or similar)
Thorough understanding of resource/reserve classification standards
Experience managing departmental budgets
Strong communicator capable of translating technical data for leadership teams
Experience managing a geology team or department in an M&A environment strongly preferred
Valid driver’s license
Ability to obtain or maintain MSHA training
Must be authorized to work in the US without work visa sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Geologist (PG) license or eligibility
Qualified Person (QP) status
Experience in heap leach gold operations
Familiarity with Nevada regulatory frameworks
Work Environment
This position includes regular fieldwork in an active brownfield mining environment in Nevada’s high desert climate. Candidates must be able to work outdoors in variable conditions, traverse uneven terrain, and carry field equipment as required. Periodic travel to corporate offices, exploration sites, and industry events may be required.
