George F. Young, Inc. (GFY) is seeking an Instrument Operator (Utilities) to join our St. Petersburg team. The Instrument Operator is responsible for performing daily surveying activities under Party Chief supervision and operating a variety of specialized surveying equipment, such as a theodolite, transit and leveling devices, and GPS tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must be able to operate an electronic data collector, GPS equipment, optical & robotic total station and digital & optical leveling equipment
• Must be able to make informed decisions in the field
• Responsible for maintaining a safe work site environment for all survey crew members
• Responsible for job specific quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual
• Responsible to care for and maintain all appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) issued by the company
• Out of town travel may be required

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 2-5 years' experience as an Instrument Person in Transportation Surveying is preferred
• FDOT Survey experience is preferred but not required
• Must have a valid driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Report
