    POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR STARTING SPRING 2020

    POSITION TITLE:               Construction Management Instructor (Part-time) REPORTS TO:                      Skilled Trades Department Chair SUPERVISES:                       N/A 

    OVERVIEW: Community College of Aurora is seeking industry professionals willing to teach Construction Management classes offered in partnership with Colorado Homebuilding Academy. In this role, you will provide classroom lectures paired with some hands-on training to diverse and enthusiastic classes. Each 8-16 week class in this program offers students 3 college credits. After completing 6 classes, students earn a Construction Superintendent or Construction Estimating certificate from Community College of Aurora.

    Required Skills

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Teach courses as assigned in keeping with the departmental philosophy
    • Actively participate in college, department and program initiatives
    • Collaborate in the assessment of student learning
    • Engage in both a self-study and a program study to ensure all students are achieving equally high outcomes, particularly in regards to race and ethnicity
    • Design and implement necessary course adjustments to support college, department, and program goals
    • Attend departmental/divisional/instruction-wide meetings as called by the Department Chair, Dean or Vice President for Instruction

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 5+ years of experience in the construction industry
    • Teaching or instruction experience preferred, but not required
    • Colorado Certified Technical Education (CTE) certification or ability to qualify for CTE certification
    • Comfort using or learning how to use an online learning management system: Schoology or D2L
    • Ability to pass a state background check.
    • Availability to teach evening classes Mon – Thurs. 6-8 PM at Colorado Homebuilding Academy 445 W 53rd Place, Denver, CO 80216
    • Availability to teach summer, fall, and spring semester courses

    ANTICIPATED START DATE:  The successful candidate will begin work in April 2020
