    The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) Transportation Department is seeking an entry- or mid-level Transportation/Air Quality Planner to assist with the creation and implementation of innovative emissions reduction strategies to improve air quality in the North Central Texas Region. A successful candidate should have an interest in environmental impacts of transportation as well as alternative fuels. Typical initiatives include a wide range of vehicle and technology programs focused on reducing air pollution impacts from the transportation sector, with focus on expanding use of clean vehicle technologies. Specific projects include, but are not limited to, the Dallas-Fort Worth Clean Cities Coalition and Electric Vehicles North Texas initiatives. This position will focus largely on supporting local governments and/or private sector fleets in transitioning to cleaner vehicle technologies. Work is collaborative in nature, working not only within the NCTCOG team, but also with external stakeholders, including fleets, citizen groups, associations, and industry representatives.     RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:

    • Supporting implementation of strategies that reduce pollution from the transportation sector, with emphasis on increasing use of alternative fuels or replacing older vehicles
    • Analyzing existing data and trends, including the use of Geographic Information System (GIS), Excel or other quantitative approaches
    • Conducting outreach to local fleets and other stakeholders about relevant technologies
    • Developing and maintaining positive and effective relationships with fleet and other local stakeholder organizations
    • Evaluating fleet vehicle inventories to develop recommendations about appropriate technology opportunities
    • Developing, measuring, and implementing project and program goals, performance measures, and milestones
    • Monitoring potential impacts of State and federal policies, rules, and legislation
    • Planning and attending meetings, events, and workshops
    • Drafting correspondence, technical reports, grant applications and reports, and other documents
    • Drafting, preparing and delivering oral presentations
    • Maintaining awareness of the latest developments in the alternative fuel and electric vehicle industries
    • Developing and applying knowledge of air quality grant programs such as the Texas Emissions Reduction Plan and Environmental Protection Agency Clean Diesel Program to support local stakeholders
    • Reviewing and maintaining NCTCOG’s air quality and Dallas-Fort Worth Clean Cities websites
    • Responding to local fleet and stakeholder inquiries, and providing excellent customer service
    • Participating in outreach events and meetings to inform stakeholders and the public of project information

    SALARY

    Minimum of $48,278.00 annually
