    Javelin is looking for a CONTRACT MARKETING MEDICAL COPY EDITOR WITH AT LEAST 5 YEARS OF PHARMACEUTICAL EXPERIENCE to join our Irving, Texas team!

     

    The Marketing Medical Copyeditor ensures that all print and digital pieces are grammatically and factually correct and in compliance with AMA style, client style, and FDA rules and regulations.

     

    For this role, you will need the right blend of meticulous attention to detail to produce high-quality medical communications, strong organizational skills, and the ability and confidence to liaise directly with internal clients and cross-functional team members. APPLICANTS MUST HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE AS AN EDITOR IN THE PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY.

     

    WHAT YOU’LL DO:

    • Copy edit and proofread a variety of promotional and educational materials (i.e., concept presentations, websites, emails, social media content, print collateral, etc.) from development through print or digital production.
    • Perform all styles of editing: Proofreading; substantive editing; check references, logos and trademarks, etc.; verifying changes have been made and no new errors were introduced; fact-checking; resolve content or reference issues; and annotating for FDA submission
    • Compares documents to earlier approved versions to ensure content matches exactly, including images and links.
    • Must be able to understand scientific and medical data to ensure the accuracy of statements and brand claims; a background in science or medicine would be an asset, though not required
    • Work closely with project managers, copywriters, art directors, and account executives to ensure that materials produced are of the highest quality in terms of accuracy, utility, clarity, readability, and appeal.
    • Keep track of timelines to make sure deadlines are met; communicate to team members as needed if conflicts arise
    • Attend status and kick-off meetings for assigned brand(s) as time allows
    • Adhere to AMA style; create and maintain brand style guides for each line of business or product
    • Ensures consistency in messaging across all brand collateral
    • Cross train on other lines of business in order to help other editors in times of heavy workload; train other editors on your line(s) of business so they can help you when needed.

     

    WHAT YOU’VE GOT:

    • Ability to work on-site in our Irving, TX office from 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM CT. This is not a remote position.
    • At least 5 years copy editing print and digital collateral in a pharmaceutical advertising agency, in-house agency, or medical publishing company, REQUIRED
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment; marketing/digital agency environment highly preferred.
    • Thorough understanding of FDA regulations for pharmaceutical promotional advertising, REQUIRED
    • Working knowledge of AMA Manual of Style (REQUIRED) and AP Stylebook (preferred)
    • Familiarity with medical, legal, and regulatory (MLR) review platforms, REQUIRED
    • Strong proficiency of Adobe Acrobat Pro, REQUIRED.
    • Proficiency on both Mac and PC computer platforms, REQUIRED
    • Exposure to job tracking or workflow management system preferred (e.g., Workfront, Basecamp, InMotion, etc.), preferred.
    • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or Keynote, and Excel.
    • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism or communications preferred or equivalent work experience required; background or interest in science or medicine a plus
    • Ability to get along well with others — in the Irving office, as well as with remote employees
    • Eager to learn new things; unafraid to ask questions
    • Proficient in English grammar and usage; attention to detail to the nth degree; excellent critical thinking and interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

    • Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) / Graduate from a college or university accredited by Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
