The Behavior Intervention Specialist is responsible for assisting in the coordination of behavioral services for people supported, as identified through close work with the person and their support team. Evaluates specific challenge areas and offers recommendations and positive approaches through written documents and direct interactions, to assist with behavior modification and development of new skills that will enhance the person’s quality of life. Provides direct supervision and consultation on the implementation of Behavior Support Plans, Medication Monitoring Plans and Behavior Guidelines. Support across programs as assigned.

COMPUTER SKILLS
BASIC OUTLOOK skills as evidenced by creating and sending messages, working with address books, message handling, creating and using personal folders, scheduling appointments, working with meeting requests and managing tasks.
BASIC POWERPOINT skills as evidenced by the ability to create and save a presentation, add titles, edit and delete slides, reordering slides, applying slide masters, checking spelling, and adding clip art.
BASIC MICROSOFT WORD skills as evidenced by the ability to produce basic business letters and simple tables and charts; as well as check spelling, set tabs, change page orientation, sort, save, open and organize electronic files.
BASIC EXCEL skills as evidenced by the ability to use workbooks, create simple formulas, insert and delete data, create and edit charts, filter and sort lists, and format data.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Required Experience
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Master’s Degree in clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or NYS license in Mental Health Counseling or National Board certification in behavior analysis (BCBA). Two to three years’ experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred. Training and experience in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development preferred.
