    Job Summary:

    We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Driller to join our field team. The ideal candidate will operate a CME 55 rig and perform a variety of drilling methods including auger work, mud rotary, and rock coring. This role involves physical work in varying outdoor conditions and requires a strong understanding of geotechnical drilling practices and equipment maintenance.

    Responsibilities:

    • Operate and maintain CME 55 rig and associated drilling equipment

    • Perform auger drilling (flight and hollow stem) up to depths of 50 feet

    • Conduct rotary and core sampling procedures

    • Set steel casing and mix mud for rotary drilling operations

    • Select appropriate diamond bits for rock coring

    • Perform conventional and wireline rock coring (minimum of 10 ft per method)

    • Conduct daily rig inspections and make minor field repairs

    • Identify site terrain features and recognize potential drilling obstacles

    • Call in utility locates and ensure safe dig practices

    • Manage daily production and track progress (target of 100 ft/day)

    • Lead or support a crew and manage field time effectively

    • Conduct site reconnaissance and provide feedback on site conditions and potential challenges

    • Review and implement solutions for field issues in real time

    Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent

    • Valid CDL Class B (minimum), Class A preferred

    • Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles

    • 5+ years of geotechnical drilling experience preferred

    • Experience with auger, rotary, and core sampling techniques

    • Familiarity with hollow stem and flight auger setups

    • Knowledge of proper drilling safety procedures and environmental regulations

    • Must be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions

    • Able to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding work

    Preferred Skills:

    • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

    • Leadership experience or ability to manage a small crew

    • Proficiency in daily production reporting and site documentation

    • Ability to recognize and adapt to changing subsurface conditions
