    The mission of the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest (GACC Midwest) is to promote and assist in the expansion of bilateral trade and investment between Germany and the United States. All internships offer the opportunity to gain work experience in a truly bilingual and bicultural environment, with support from colleagues that can help speed the learning curve of understanding intercultural differences and nuances.

    Our Apprenticeship Network Team supports our member companies and other industry associations, educational institutions and government agencies to cover the demand for skilled workforce in various industry sectors. To this end, we help with the creation of new programs based on the German model of dual vocational training and assist them with the management of existing programs.     We are seeking a creative Apprenticeship Network Intern with a focus on Marketing and Events, who is interested in technology and creating compelling content. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter and eager to get experience by diving head-first into social media initiatives, event organization, outreach to and collaboration with various stakeholders, advertising, and providing assistance across a wide range of other responsibilities. The Intern will be working with our team to build content, so collaboration and communication are crucial for this role.

    HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

    • Update the ICATT and MAT2 websites (WordPress)
    • Create social media posts, as well as create, format and send out e-newsletters to stakeholders
    • Edit images for exam preparation
    • Create effective marketing copy for apprenticeship-related events and programs
    • Attend career fairs or presentation events, including occasional evenings or weekends
    • Organize events such as signing days, roundtables, workshops, and other events etc. (location, catering, run of show, marketing etc.)
    • Update guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures to reflect best practices and develop these where needed
    • Assist with other administrative and marketing duties assigned as necessary

    WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

We're looking to provide web- and tech-savvy self-starter interns with the opportunity to gain a tremendous amount of knowledge regarding apprenticeships, HR strategies, workforce development, clearly marketing to very different target audiences. You will be able to work in a closed team where each area of responsibility overlaps, and you will also have opportunities to work cross-departmental and learn from different experts. 

    QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

    • Native English speaker or equivalent skills
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Word Press skills
    • Experience with social media channels such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (beyond private usage)
    • Photoshop and image editing abilities
    • Experience or knowledge in the field of apprenticeships or manufacturing is an advantage
    • Desire to work in a collaborative team environment
