    Position Summary

    The Childcare Leader for Common Heart’s “Getting Ahead in a Getting By World” program plays a vital role in fostering a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children aged 1–16 years old. This position supports the program's mission by coordinating high-quality childcare during class sessions, enabling investigators to fully participate in transformative educational experiences. In addition to child care coordination. Part-time at 12 hours, Mon., Tues., & Thurs.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Childcare & Program Support

    Recruit people with an interest in helping in childcare

    Interview & Complete background check in coordination with the Director for volunteers interested in helping in childcare

    Coordinate and schedule volunteers to provide a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for children aged 1–16 years old.

    Work with the Getting Ahead Facilitator to complete Childcare Forms for Investigators accepted into Getting Ahead class.

    Ensure volunteers are maintaining an accurate attendance record and communicate any concerns or incidents.

    Work with the Director to resolve any incidents that may occur.

    Implement age-appropriate activities that promote social, cognitive, and emotional growth.

    Foster positive relationships with children and encourage their active participation.

    Assist in childcare as needed

    Additional Support Roles

    Participate in Staff Meetings & Trainings

    Involvement in Great Turkey Countdown

    Other tasks as assigned

    Skills and Qualifications

    Previous experience in childcare, early childhood education, or a related field is required

    Child Development Associate Credential preferred

    CPR and First Aid Certification required or willing to obtain

    Ability to adapt to the needs of children and the program

    Excellent time management skills

    Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

    Ability to multitask

    Ability to pay attention to details

    Creative thinking

    Familiarity with office equipment, use of computer, MS Office & Google Workplace Apps

    Polite, clear and compelling communication skills
