JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Boat Works General Manager, assist in leading the operational and administrative functions of a full-service boat yard. Continue to develop and implement standardized processes that promote high quality cost-effective services. Create awareness around safe working conditions and develop safety standards. Interface effectively with customer base and employees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in supervising and managing a full complement of employee disciplines in the marine technical environment such as woodworkers, mechanics, painters, fabricators, riggers, etc.
Develop and implement a work order system that is user-friendly and provides enhanced efficiency. Act as administrator and point of contact to system; centrally managed platform that coordinates and tracks service requests to allow for streamlined service delivery operations.
Oversee the work order process: ticket system and tracking, inventory and parts requirements, pricing model, internal communications, status updates and customer service feedback. Regularly evaluate system and workflow, making changes based on user feedback and operational efficiency.
Ensure a service culture; develop multiple platforms of communication to include automated service reminders, email status templates and phone calls
Act as master scheduler:
Establish maintenance schedules and proactively trigger service alerts and maintenance reminders. Maintain accurate service records.
Schedule hauling, launching, rigging, delivery and work to be performed; schedule, update, communicate with team to ensure proactive communications in support of operations.
Oversee the physical order of yard and workroom to ensure a safe working environment. Manage and promote environmental improvements.
Develop safety protocols that reflect OSHA and related standards; draft and implement safety policies and procedures; train staff and maintain appropriate records. Work with key individuals in promoting relevant safety measures across departments.
Develop policies and procedures that support the operation and the culture of Gibson Island Club.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Strong background in technical marine service on vessels ranging from 15’ to 60’ in addition to general business expertise.
Five + years relevant experience in developing and implementing systems and operations, preferably in yacht yard operations.
Focused experience in risk management/workplace safety.
KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Strong knowledge base in marine terminology and practical experience on and around boats
Ability to assess and prioritize work based on critical systems and equipment requirements, commitments, resources, and service. Ability to apply such knowledge to perform analysis, estimates, modeling etc. that enable the most effective solution.
Strong interpersonal communication skills to communicate with both customers and staff
Strong computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Project Manager preferred. Familiar with service tracking systems/programs such as Piervantage.
Ability to write correspondence, track expenses, estimate projects, create schedules.
Knowledge of safety standards with a commitment to risk management. Experience in training a plus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position involves both routine office work as well as the ability to work on and around boats. Good physical coordination and balance is a must. Will require some lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, stooping, reaching, sitting, walking, climbing, accessing tight spaces, and occasionally working on scaffolding. Salaried position generaly works Monday - Friday.

Compensation: commensurate with education, work experience, skills, and abilities.
