  • Responsibilities

    Gideon's Promise is a national non-profit headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Gideon's Promise exists to transform the criminal legal system by providing public defenders with necessary training, development, support and resources to provide client-centered representation, and to end mass incarceration. 

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support Marketing Department with duties as needed

    • Assist Marketing and Communications Specialist as needed

    • Research outreach conducted from partner and affiliate offices for social media posts

    • Create content for social media

    • Support the Programs Department with program marketing and promotional materials

    • Research, review and evaluate social media strategies in the industry

    • Assist in preparing information and research materials for content creation

    • Respond to social media posts and emails

    • Perform general administrative duties

    • Help develop and maintain the “voice” of Gideon's Promise

    • Conceptualize and help to execute new events along with marketing team

    • Assist with “Gideon's Promise: The Podcast”

    • Marketing and promotion of the podcast and its events

    • Research possible guests and appropriate themes

    • Write questions for guests based on subject matter research and careful consideration of personal stories

    • Assist with the book marketing and promotion of “Gideon's Promise: A Public Defender Movement to Transform Criminal Justice”

    • Write and graphically format monthly newsletter

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline; major in marketing/advertising or communications a plus
    • Internship within the legal industry is a plus
    • Must be outgoing, organized, efficient, resourceful, creative, and able to balance multiple projects simultaneously
    • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills; with good judgment and ability to interact with different levels of management and team
    • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented team player with ability to successfully multitask and meet deadlines
    • Be a pro-active, self-starter that takes initiative and anticipates team and manager needs
    • Adapt quickly to multiple technology software, hardware and application platforms
    • Passion for social justice and criminal justice reform

    TECHNOLOGICAL COMPETENCIES

    • Social media production, branding, and communication
    • Social media response to current events in social justice and developments in the criminal legal system
    • Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and Twitter
    • Computer software i.e. Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Photoshop, Premier Pro, Canva, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Constant Contact
    • Graphic design, and production skills are a plus
