At GigSmart, we connect Businesses and Charities with temporary labor and volunteers instantly through mobile technology. GigSmart is the way Workers choose jobs and Requesters source Workers. Through GigSmart, Workers have immediate access to freedom, choice and control when accepting gig requests. Business Requesters have access to good workers who will be on the job immediately.

We are looking for an experienced, driven, goal-oriented VP of Engineering to lead our technology team and continue to build, improve, and innovate on the GigSmart platform; ensuring GigSmart's development process and customer experience are “best-in-class” experiences. This role will be constantly striving to ensure that our overall service offering is on the cutting edge of our respective industry. The leader of our technology team has proven experience building a results driven team culture that is collaborative, fast paced, fun and enjoys tactically getting into the weeds with the team to solve challenges and offer coaching, direction, accountability and support.

What You'll Do:

Be a strategic contributor and drive results

You'll partner with other senior leaders across the company to translate technology capabilities into strategic business decisions. You'll build a strong long-term technology strategy that aligns with company strategic plan and influences the overall company direction. You'll drive accountability and metrics ownership to translate strategy into results. You'll align and inspire your organization by effectively communicating and engaging the team in the strategy.

Build and lead a high-performing technology team

Recruit, hire, grow and retain amazing talent into the organization. You'll build a technology brand that is a talent magnet and inspire a world-class team of customer-focused engineers who use technology to enable our growing business. You'll grow and develop the next set of engineering leaders to continue scaling our organization. Your team members achieve more, grow more, and work alongside the most talented teammates.

Be responsible for technology delivery

Build a reliable, scalable and highly performant technology stack using industry best practices. You'll ensure our architecture is secure, flexible, and scalable to allow for growth. You'll be responsible for consistently delivering meaningful features, applications and technology solutions that solve business problems. You'll consistently communicate and deliver to commitments and increase the velocity of our teams by removing roadblocks. You'll be responsible for driving new business and growth through engineering solutions.

Who you are:

• You have 5+ years of engineering management experience in high-growth engineering organizations.
• You have 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• You have proven experience building, growing, retaining and inspiring high performance technologists.
• You have a track record for delivery in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
• You champion and drive a culture of continuous learning to improve execution.
• You take any step necessary to remove roadblocks that are holding the team back.
• You are a strategic partner who can translate business problems to technology solutions and vice versa.
• You'll work to ensure our codebase maintains low technical debt and adheres to the the best industry standards in architecture, security, reliability, and scalability.
• You'll work effectively across the business to influence and create value/delight for our customers and internal stakeholders.
• You'll create a culture of self-organization, responsibility, and accountability within your teams.
• You have a strong combination of experience in Mobile Application Development, React Native, and/or Elixir.
