    REMOTE LAPP / SAR / DE CERTIFIED MORTGAGE UNDERWRITER / COMMERCIAL LOAN APPLICATIONS / HIGH VOLUME LOAN SUBMISSIONS FOR OUR RETAIL DVISION

    We are looking for experienced commercial LAPP / SAR / DE Certified mortgage underwriters to work for a recognized, fast-growing privately held mortgage company in the US. You can analyze each loan application package to determine the borrower’s ability and willingness to repay the debt and the value of the property taken as collateral. Based on this determination, you will either approve or deny the loan package as appropriate. The Underwriter ensures all applicable Federal, State and Investor requirements have been adhered to. You have excellent phone and communication skills, to provide superior customer service to internal and external customers.

    The mortgage underwriter reviews and underwrites retail clients loan files accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with company guidelines. Verifies documentation is complete and works with operations staff to collect additional information as necessary. Adds conditions to file if necessary in order to complete the underwriting process.

     

    Your role:

    • Responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and approving retail loan applications and credit documents, including but not limited to, mortgage applications, credit history and income documents, title documents, appraisals and all applicable compliance documents.
    • Approve or decline loans within limits of assigned authority. Communicate decision to appropriate individuals within the Company upholding fair lending practices.
    • Analyze credit documents, including but not limited to, mortgage applications, credit history and income documents, title documents, appraisals and all applicable compliance documents, while also reworks loans to new terms, identifies additional conditions as needed to insure a viable credit decision.
    • Review and evaluates borrower(s) profile including but not limited to all income documentation, tax returns, credit reports, preliminary report, judgments, bankruptcy documents and appraisals
    • Maintain a sound knowledge of secondary market activity, practices, and business/industry practices as they impact underwriting quality and origination activity
    • Maintain pre-established service level standard of decisions within a time frame set by the company
    • Verify income, assets, credit, and collateral documents including self-employed personal and business tax returns.
    • Get involved in one or several types of mortgage lending (agency conventional, portfolio conventional, FHA/VA MI etc.).
    • This position will also lend support to other underwriters on complex loan submissions.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
    • 4+ years of recent Mortgage Underwriting Experience with Mortgage Companies (FHA, VA and Conventional) with strong agency guideline knowledge, USDA is a plus
    • Experience dealing with brokers highly preferred
    • Strong working knowledge of ATR/QM Requirements
    • Proven knowledge of Mortgage Insurance Guidelines and rates
    • Working knowledge of Empower LOS is a plus
    • Proven knowledge of compliance and disclosure requirements.
    • Proven knowledge of closing, post-closing & quality control responsibilities
    • Proficient in all compliance-related regulations including RESPA
    • Strong mathematical skills
    • Strong PC skills (MS Office products) and experience with mortgage origination systems
