    GIRL SCOUTS OF NORTHERN INDIANA-MICHIANA

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Program Facilitator will work with girls of all ages to deliver grade-level activities utilizing national curriculum.  This position works up to 15 hours weekly; $18/hr; hours vary, out-based position

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Prepare and implement exciting, fun, and thought provoking activities that utilize the Girl Scout national curriculum, ensuring diversity and pluralism for all girls.

    • Formulate and communicate troop calendars and schedules to the Council, volunteers, parents and girls using applicable methods including social media.

    • Advocate and cheerlead for Girl Scouting whenever possible throughout the community to enhance awareness, appreciation, and understanding of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.

    • Combine your love for program and event management with that of the nationally renowned Girl Scout Fall Product and Cookie Sale program, to successfully manage and cultivate troops’ entrepreneurial spirit and selling success.

    • Work in tandem with volunteers, providing guidance, problem solving, and support to ensure a quality troop experience.

    • Using a train the trainer approach, work with and equip volunteers to assume management responsibility of the troop, which provides a viable, well rounded, and active experience for all girls.

    • Maintain book keeping and secretarial duties for troop, including troop records, expenses, participation stats, and a monthly summary of programs and activities.

    • Other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION:

    • High school diploma or GED with at least five years’ work experience in progressively responsible positions.

    • College degree,(preferred)

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Positive experience working effectively with girls, including youth in at-risk environments.

    • Ability to work with a culturally and racially diverse group.

    • Commitment to the principles of Girl Scouting and willingness to maintain membership in the organization.

    • Understanding of youth programming, including outcomes and processes; GSLE activities preferred

    • Successful experiences working with youth delivering programming; GSLE activities preferred

    • Understanding of girls’ needs including team building, conflict resolution, and appropriate behavior management techniques.

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

    • Ability to manage time efficiently, work independently and manage several projects at one time.

    • Strong written and oral communication skills.

    • Strong personal relation skills with girls and adults

    • Effective computer skills.

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, moderate lifting and carrying (up to thirty (30) pounds).

    • Full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

    • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

    • Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.

    • Ability to focus on detail and accuracy of work product.

    • Work is performed primarily in the community in schools and other community organizations, travel may expose employee to inclement weather conditions.

    • Willingness to travel to various work and meeting locations to deliver program.

    • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

    • Occasional high stress may be experienced

    • Willingness to become a member of GSUSA

    • Dependable transportation necessary.
