    Job Description

    Giustina Land & Timber Co. is a family-owned business in Eugene, Oregon that seeks an accountant to join our team. The position directly contributes and is responsible for a variety of accounting and finance activities for six to eight family related business entities.

    This position is 100% in the office at our location and reports directly to the Controller. The accounting team is a casual environment of professionals.

    The ideal candidate must have integrity, honesty, a positive attitude, be professional, dependable, respectful, articulate and maintain confidentiality. Candidate must be comfortable with technology, willing to solve problems on their own, and work well with others.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Coordinate bank deposits and perform monthly bank reconciliations
    • Process Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
    • Prepare checks and confirm automatic payments
    • Perform payroll for multiple entities including quarterly and year-end local, state, and federal payroll filings and payments to correct agencies
    • Perform a wide range of month-end closing responsibilities including reconciling GL accounts, preparing, and posting journal entries to general ledger to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance for various accounts
    • Verify that transactions are recorded in the correct ledgers to ensure accuracy of entries and analyzes financial statements for discrepancies
    • Preparation of monthly financial statements and preparation of monthly reporting packages
    • Preparation of year-end workpapers supporting the annual tax returns
    • Will perform all year end tasks such as W-2 and 1099NEC
    • Maintain proper records and files for multiple entities
    • Cross-train in related positions to contribute to team environment
    • Exercise discretion with sensitive and confidential information

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • 2-5 years accounting and/or bookkeeping experience, including AR and AP, or education equivalent
    • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel with experience creating and using Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Experience with Sage 100 and Quicken preferred
    • Strong organizational, mathematical, and analytical skills with ability to effectively resolve problems
    • Ability to independently manage and prioritize workload with strong attention to detail, high degree of accuracy, and effective organizational and communication skills
    • Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
