    POSITION SUMMARY

    Glass Roots Construction (GRC) was founded by a team of career telecom and construction professionals and looks to leverage the latest technologies, best in industry equipment, construction and safety practices to build a first-class fiber optic utility construction firm in multiple markets throughout the US. The company has construction projects in CA, CO, and NV. This position is for a Superintendent who will report to the Director of Operations and is for our Nevada operations in Reno NV. The best personality fit for this role would be for an individual who is hyper focused on safe and quality production from their crews, someone who isn’t afraid to share their experience and success with the crews to drive them to better overall production values. This person would also benefit by being open to new ideas and willing to try and fail new methods when tried and true methods don’t lead to positive outcomes.

    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Lead weekly safety meetings and ensure compliance to the GRC safety program and policies.
    • Ensure internal staff have all necessary safety gear, are trained in its use, and are monitored to ensure they are compliant in wearing it.
    • Effectively plan out each work day to ensure internal crews are working as safely and efficiently as possible.
    • Remove roadblocks that would prevent all crews (internal and subcontract) from working.
    • Excellent Planning and Pivoting skills.
    • Experience with FTTX project management with a specific emphasis on field operations.
    • Ensure all field activities are accurately reported (GPS coordinates of bore pits/vaults, running line adjustments, tracking and uploading bore logs, etc).
    • Will be in the field 90% of the day in various weather conditions. Mobile office equipment will be provided as needed to upload and track data from your vehicle.
    • Must be able to effectively use a computer, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Google Earth, and other internal software as needed.
    • Will be involved in the new site Job Safety Analysis - JSA prior to starting construction.
    • May be required to work overtime; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed

    QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Must have at least 3 years’ experience working with and around directional drilling crews, Aerial Construction Crews, Fiber Placing Crews and Fiber Splicers in the utility construction industry.
    • Proven track record of securing safe and quality daily production with internal crews and an ability to navigate the ever present changing circumstances of Utility Construction.
    • Must have supervisory experience.
    • Understanding of utility construction practices and terminology.
    • Able to read, interpret and adjust various construction drawings/prints.
