    The Georgia Military College Augusta Campus is part of Georgia Military College’s eight campus and seven extensions center system across the state. Established in 1879, Georgia Military Colleges is a coeducational public-independent two-year higher education institution of the State of Georgia and seeks to produce educated citizens by providing our students with a liberal arts based two-year undergraduate curriculum in an environment conducive to the holistic development of the intellect and character of our students.

     

    The GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE-AUGUSTA Campus invites applications for a part time Student Disabilities Services Assistant. The position reports to the Academic Dean, who serves as the disabilities coordinator for the local campus. The assistant provides administrative support to the Academic Dean and the Dean of Students in providing disability services and related student services at the Augusta Campus. This is a part time position, up to 19 hours per week.

     

    Duties include, but are not limited to:

    Maintaining confidential student files and documents for disability services.

    Maintaining information on community support services for students.

    Interfacing with students, faculty and staff to facilitate establishing, maintaining and evaluating student disability and support services as assigned.

    Making appointments for accommodations meetings.

    Manage arrangements for testing accommodations and proctoring.

    Maintaining placement of disability materials in the classrooms and inventory of disability services materials and equipment.

    Assist faculty in making courses ADA compliant.

    Facilitating disabilities services support for student orientations and faculty and staff orientations.

    Other duties as assigned.

     

    Minimum Requirements:

    A bachelor’s degree and minimum two years related experience.

    Experience with computers and technology, including Microsoft Office.

    Demonstrated interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to relate to a diverse community.

    Ability to react appropriately in crisis situations.

    Ability to maintain confidentiality under college, state and federal guidelines.

     

    Preferred Requirements:

    A master’s degree or higher in a related field.

    Previous experience in student disability services or a related field.

    Experience with alternative materials, media and disabilities resources and hardware.
