    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Automation Engineer Manager reports to the Director of Engineering & Projects and is responsible for managing: repairs and maintenance, Packaging Line, Track and Trace and routine maintenance/automation of all required equipment and facility.  The role works as a second line to Head of Engineering for the Monroe site.

     

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    Repairs and Maintenance

    • Repairs and maintenance of all manufacturing equipment for all technical issues related to PLC and automation
    • Resolution of all recurrent technical issues related to automation in all manufacturing equipment.
    • Preventative maintenance through predictive maintenance to reduce breakdowns
    • Upkeep of all PLCs and instrumentation to meet current cGMP requirements

     

    Packaging Line Management

    • Troubleshooting of bottle packaging line to reduce stoppages and breakdowns and ensure >80% Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) with 50Mn tablets output from one packaging line.
    • Train all operators and supervisors for effective operation bottle packaging line to meet above target.
    • Improve automation in packaging line to reduce manpower to <5 per shift.

     

    Track and Trace Management

    • Troubleshoot track and trace equipment to ensure zero breakdown
    • Resolve all ongoing issues with track and trace
    • Training of operators and supervisors for smooth operations of this machine
    • Coordination of vendors (e.g. Antares vision) an Glenmark IT cell for timely resolution of problems.

     

     

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Engineering Degree (4 year) required
    • 8-10 years’ experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing industry
    • Knowledge of
      • PLCs and instrumentation,
      • bottle packaging machine for tablets and capsules
      • Track and Trace equipment
      • SAP (Systems Applications and Products in Data Processing)
      • Strong computer skills including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook
      • Good presentation skills, interpersonal skills
