    Job Description

    This is a hybrid role (3 days/week in office) and is based our Newton, MA office.

    The Global Payroll Manager will lead payroll operations, primarily focused on the US and UK payroll, with the remainder global. You’ll define and build a payroll team for our recently merged business and work to upgrade our current payroll system during 2025. The Payroll Manager will own the day-to-day operations of the payroll function, alongside the ongoing transformation including technology, operational and capability improvements.

    This role offers a significant growth opportunity. The initial focus will be on quickly defining and building a payroll team following a recent merger. Once established, the role will be responsible for running the team moving forward and identifying further opportunities for payroll transformation and optimization.

    Specific responsibilities include:

    • Manage payroll for the US & UK predominantly, with some global responsibilities, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
    • Ensure compliance with tax laws and payroll regulations.
    • Maintain knowledge of relevant payroll laws and changes.
    • Work closely with payroll providers, HR, and Finance teams.
    • Manage payroll data integrity and maintain employee records in compliance with data protection regulations.
    • Create and maintain payroll policies, ensuring compliance and data security.
    • Oversee year-end processes and compliance filings.
    • Manage cross-border and expatriate payroll cases.
    • Lead implementation and integration of new payroll systems.
    • Implement payroll system enhancements, upgrades, and integrations to improve efficiency and accuracy.
    • Run regular audits and resolve payroll issues.
    • Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in global payroll management.
    • Support HR, Finance, and Tax with payroll questions and compliance.
    • Train teams on payroll policies and tools.
    • Advise on payroll during mergers and acquisitions.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience as an International Payroll Manager or similar role, with a focus on managing payroll operations across multiple countries and regions.
    • Minimum 5 years of global payroll experience
    • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) qualification is highly desirable.
    • Ideally experience with ADP, but more importantly strong system knowledge to define requirements for payroll platform transformation and optimization.
    • Familiarity with the operations and regulations of US stock exchanges.
    • Prefferred experience in SOX compliance.
    • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration experience with other teams such as HR, Finance, and Tax.
    • Ability to lead a team.
    • Experience setting up a new payroll team or capability from scratch, or as part of an integration.
    • In-depth knowledge of global payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements for various jurisdictions.
    • Strong understanding of statutory deductions, tax rates, social security requirements, and benefits regulations in different countries.
    • Experience working with international payroll service providers and managing relationships with external vendors.
    • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Ability to navigate complex payroll scenarios and provide effective solutions.
    • Proficiency in payroll software and systems.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
    • Adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proactive, self-starting, and independent with a strong focus on finding solutions, not just identifying problems ("resolver" mentality).
    • Excellent team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    Additional Information

    The pay range for this position is $90,000-$120,000 annually depending on experience.
