    Location: Remote

    The Advisory Consultant is responsible for supporting the development of regional energy market reports and act as an external customer-facing consultant and an experienced and proficient practitioner working with one or a number of Power Grid’s Solution sets.

    Some National and international travel will be required. 

    Duties:

    •  Lead development of long-term energy and capacity price forecasts for WECC and the neighboring Canadian provinces and develop regional reports to support development of EMA’s North America Power Reference Case product.
    • Lead consulting assignments of very high complexity. Contribute to the creation of the business strategy in consulting area and ensures implementation. Conduct market studies to identify opportunities for new and repeat business for Company’s products and services.
    • Leads alignment and development of consultancy products and services to meet customers’ needs. Oversees and delivers challenging and major assignments. Approves and reviews tasks carried out by others. Defines best practices for the business.
    •  Enhancing Company’s strategic consulting capabilities with the renewable developer community with best practice consulting advice
    • Establishes client contacts at senior level (e.g. Managing or Technical Director), works with customers at a strategic level and coaches them.
    • Providing insight to Company product managers for software tool improvements and roadmaps for client use in best practices and valuable reports
    •  Leads consulting project of high complexity, including:
    • Modeling renewable, energy storage, hybrid and/or co-located resources, electric vehicles, demand response, distributed energy resources etc.
    • Developing energy, capacity, and Renewable Energy Credit (REC) price forecasts
    • Analyzing and presenting a coherent narrative around regional power market trends
    • The role may possess extraordinary expertise as a Regional Practice Area Lead for Fuels, Environmental, etc. and serve as a regional product manager for same.
    • Consulting in the implementation of the Company Solution set at client sites with provision of business consulting activities as directed by the Project Manager and in accordance with project Statement of Work (SOW) or specific consulting engagement request.
    • Follows work plans and cost estimates in one’s area of responsibility. Ensures quality and timely implementation within targeted cost.
    • Provision of business process/ solution related consulting activities in accordance with specific consulting engagement request.
    • Provision of solution consulting advice to effectively provide the customer with knowledge and best practice guidelines of the required business solution.
    • Enablement of business benefits in accordance with consulting assignment deliverables.
    • Works as a leading functional practitioner in a consulting area.
    • Approves assignment tasks carried out by others.
    • Takes a lead role to propose consulting services to meet the customer's needs.
    • Leads or supports the development of a special technology or area of best practice
    • Demonstration of Company solutions.
    • Prepare and conduct product training as required.
    • Participation in complex solution design and feedback sessions with the R&D team(s).
    • Provide expertise and guidance during the solution development process to ensure bridging of the gap between business problems faced by the client and benefits available from Company solutions and services
    • Ensuring that our solutions are designed and documented to address customer’s problems in a cost-effective and timely manner
    • Encourage openness & respect, and build trust, confidence & loyalty with customers and partners.
    • Undertake mentoring and leadership of consultants and associates as required.
    • Complete administrative tasks e.g. timesheet recording and project/site documentation as required.
    • Willingness to undertake travel both domestically and internationally to customer project locations.
    • Attend to other relevant duties as directed.
    • Ensure Company commitments to customer are met, in accordance with the assigned consulting activities.
    • Ensure assigned professional services are completed on time, with required quality and updates reported to appropriate project manager or equivalent. Seeks ways to improve customer satisfaction, through optimized execution, appropriate customer interaction, delivering quality documents, keeping and presenting Company values and integrity, etc. as directed by the project manager and or Team Lead.
    • Assure and seek to improve customer satisfaction and feedback through consistent customer interaction, e.g. Communication, (phone, e-mail, etc.) and Customer meetings, etc.
    • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction across all solution deployments.
    • Consistently demonstrating a commitment to ongoing improvement of service or delivery methods.
    • Supports Sales in sales activities and participates in pre-sales activities when required.
    • Contribution as requested to proposals, RFI’s and tender responses.
    • Provide input to project plans and pricing on services projects.
    • Identify and report additional business opportunities for consulting when conducting an existing engagement e.g. training, site reviews, further solution rollouts etc.
    • Makes contacts with senior/technical experts in customer organizations to deliver customer benefit.
    • Maintains awareness of consulting and business unit target sectors and the needs of existing customers in order to support Sales to negotiate contracts which meet customer objectives.
    • Continuous contributions to innovation.
    • Create and deliver training materials relating to technology and best practices to support the adoption of best practices across the global consulting group
    • Adherence to Project and Company quality standards.
    • Demonstrated high-quality, professional and ethical conduct.
    • Producing high quality project reporting documentation.
    • Ensuring on-time delivery of project deliverables, project reports, and Request for Proposals with exceptional operational and functional quality.
    • Ensure compliance with all Company policy, process or guidelinesForms and leads teams to deliver assignments with a focus on operational execution.
    • Coaches and develops consultants within the team. Develops relationships with external organizations e.g. professional bodies to establish best practice, and enhance personal reputation and credibility for the benefit of Company Enterprise Software.
    • Constantly seeks ways to learn, acquire new skills and knowledge and improve quality of consulting services.
    • Keep up to date with product developments, and return customer and market feedback to Product Management.
    • Keeping abreast of new technologies and products coming to market that may assist in providing solutions to customers.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or higher degree related to particular business area.
    • Post Graduate qualifications desirable.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of related disciplines in the organization.
    • Relevant industry technical certifications desirable
    • Recognized as a subject matter expert/proficient practitioner in relevant field
    • Fluent spoken and written English and language local to country in which employed

    Expert knowledge of world energy markets, the macro economic factors influencing those markets over a 30 year time horizon, how to use Company EPM Simulation Model software products to simulate future scenarios in those markets and perform sensitivities for key contributing factors.

    Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability and confidence to develop and present to senior audiences within a customer environment or at industry conferences

    Ability to work with projects of different size, complexity and contractual types

    Experience:

    Specifically seeking consultants with expertise in renewable energy development and electrification with the ability to stay abreast with the ever-changing and complex energy market and resource adequacy rules, transmission infrastructure developments, renewable energy mandates and net zero goals, modeling of electrification (i.e. transportation and buildings), demand response, distributed energy resources, de-carbonaization future etc.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Ideal candidate would also have prior experience in simulation model software products for markets or portfolio optimization in the North American electricity markets, as well as market experience in WECC/CAISO

     Support Company’s Energy Market Advisors (EMA) marketing activities by providing thought leadership in energy markets through Energy Market Intelligence workshops, industry conference presentations and panel moderations, webinar series, and whitepaper publications.

     Support EMA Sales process by conducting prospective client discovery calls and business needs assessments.

    Proven experience in professional consulting role (desirable) and in implementation of Company solutions or equivalent

    Proven extensive experience identifying and managing project issues and risks, including mitigation strategies and plans.

    Typically, a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in relevant industry. 

    Preferred Skills:

    Ideal candidate would also be an expert in one or more Energy Portfolio Management (EPM) simulation model software products for markets or portfolio optimization, such as:

    - Production Cost Modeling (Zonal and/or Nodal)

    - Integrated resource planning

    - Long-term electricity price forecasting
