    Job Description

    BUSINESS ANALYST - WORKDAY FINANCE

      SUMMARY

    • The client will be retiring its legacy HR/Payroll system and implementing Workday.
    • This position will serve in a critical role in supporting the Finance Team in data validation, payroll journal reconciliation, and implementation of the labor cost distribution model for the client.
    • This change will be significant to the State and affects every employee.
    • This role will support the Finance Lead in: data conversion of legacy labor cost distribution elements; payroll expense/revenue/balance sheet posting logic; and managing of the Statistic and Costing Allocation tables within Workday.
    • This supporting role requires critical thinking, organizational skills, communication skills, and a high level of analytical skills.

      TO ENSURE SUCCESS, THIS ROLE WILL PARTNER CLOSELY WITH THE PROJECT FINANCE LEAD. THE MAJOR AREAS OF THE FINANCE TEAM WILL BE:

    • Labor cost distribution via Costing Allocations and Projects for timesheet allocation.

    • The accounting of payroll earnings, expenditures and deductions and corresponding revenue and balance sheet account postings via the Account Posting Rules

    • Costing Allocation tables and financial integrations.

    • Summarized and detailed reporting of payroll expenditures.

    • Data conversion of financial elements from Legacy systems.

    • Facilitation of meetings via Zoom or Microsoft Teams

    • Participation in meetings as a representative of the Finance team

    • Tracking and maintenance of Finance work tickets in JIRA project management software

    • Collaboration with Finance Lead on the scheduling and completion of requirements gathering, training, and communication tasks

    • Engagement with business stakeholders to provide project updates, facilitate demos, or identify areas that require further training

    • Support of Finance efforts to document business readiness, identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies to ensure adherence to the project timeline

      YOU WILL HAVE

    • Experience with labor cost distribution, costing allocations and project time allocation
    • An understanding of the Workday Statistical table used for the reallocation of payroll expenditures via Project allocation
    • Knowledge of Account Posting Rule tables and Earning/Deduction/Expense Costing Allocation tables
    • Familiarity with Government Chart of Accounts
    • Understanding of payroll reconciliations and payroll reporting
    • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and resolve roadblocks to meet deadlines without sacrificing standards of excellence
    • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel and Word
    • Proficiency in SharePoint
    • Accustomed to collaborating with a fast-paced team
    • Understanding of Workday payroll journal process (accrual and allocation) and integrations.
