HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW
The Global Trade Compliance Specialist will support trade operations and ensure adherence to customs rules and regulations. The specialist will be responsible for product classification for inbound and outbound products across U.S., Canada, and Mexico
This role involves coordinating import and export activities, maintaining compliant documentation, and collaborating with brokers and internal teams for efficient customs processes.
The position is based in central Massachusetts, near Worcester.
EXPECTATIONS
- Accurately apply GRIs, chapter notes, and CBP rulings to assign HTS and Schedule B classification
- Apply Commerce Control List (CCL) and EAR rules to assign ECCN number
- Determine Country of Origin and ensure product is labeled correctly
- Understand customs regulations and import process into U.S., Canada, and Mexico
- Oversee import documentation, audits, and customs entry reviews to ensure compliance
- Provide shipment clearance instructions and regulatory guidance on CBP and PGA requirements
- Develop classification decision rationale and methodology to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Maintain international trade data and support classification database accuracy
- Maintain accurate records to support preferential trade programs and duty drawback
ESSENTIALS
- Bachelors degree or 3–5 years’ experience in customs compliance
- Expertise in HS classification (U.S., Canada, and Mexico), U.S. customs and export regulations
- Proficient in MS Excel
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and ability to manage multiple projects
