Mikros is headquartered in Fort Washington, PA., has a production facility in Largo, FL and a customer support office in Ventura, CA. Mikros develops, certifies, manufactures, and installs equipment on navy ships and provides full lifecycle support of installed systems. Mikros has a multi-disciplinary team of systems, mechanical, electrical and software engineers and staff to develop new products and support existing product lines. Mikros Systems is seeking a Hardware Design Engineer
The engineer will support full life cycle engineering of new and existing products as a member of an interdisciplinary team in a hands-on environment.
Responsibilities:
- Design hardware for MIL and rugged industrial applications
- Participate in customer engagement and requirements generation
- Understand and interpret requirements, MIL and commercial standards, and industry best practices to design, test, and iterate on electrical, mechanical, and systems-level designs
- Work with production facility in manufacturing prototypes and production hardware
- Participate in troubleshooting and failure analyses to diagnose issues and improve product designs
- Integrate new company products with legacy systems and equipment
- Occasionally travel to install, test, and troubleshoot company products at customer sites
Required Skills
Required:
- BSME, BSAero or equivalent Technical degree
- CAD proficiency, SolidWorks preferred
- Mechanical and structural design
- Electrical hardware integration and testing
- Knowledge of drawing standards, ASME Y14 preferred
- Basic level of material sciences, e.g. weights, strengths, and galvanic corrosion
- Strong technical writing skills
- Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one
Preferred:
- Structural and Thermal FEA and Simulation
- Management of complex documentation
- System test data decomposition and analysis
- Experience with SysML/UML and requirements traceability
- Electrical hardware hands-on experience, e.g., soldering and bench test equipment
- Experience in machining and fabrication to understand real world fabrication methods and their limits and tolerances
