    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Research Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordination, successful execution, and publication of various research projects for spine surgeons, residents, and product development. In addition, this position will function in a cross-disciplinary environment and must have experience or be willing to be trained in image analysis, micro-CT, biomechanical principles, and orthopedic basic sciences.  The Research Engineer must have strong self-starting qualities to independently manage coordination of multiple projects to ensure timely and successful completion.

    THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING:

    • Developing protocols with surgeons, PD personnel, and researchers
    • Planning and executing all mechanical, biomechanical, and basic science research testing including, cadaveric experimentation, image analysis, particle analysis/scanning electron microscopy, data analysis, report writing, submitting abstracts, preparing manuscripts, and documentation
    • Leading coordination of research project activities involving surgeons, PD personnel, and researchers including project kick-off meetings, follow-up, preparing specimens, and cadaver lab set-up
    • Partnering with PD, Sales & Marketing, and surgeons to identify research projects
    • Participating in the non-clinical research fellowship program: training, teaching, and designing studies for visitors and surgeon champions who are being trained in the orthopedic sciences
    • Assisting in the planning, creation, and maintenance of a state-of-the art research laboratory with all necessary equipment including annual verifications and SOP work
    • Creating reports on the status of various projects
    • Ensuring publication submissions deadlines are met and a steady stream of peer reviewed publications and podium presentations are generated from research
    • Creating and building a reputation as the best basic science research facility in the world
    • Assisting in animal surgical procedures for in-vivo studies.
    • Assisting in product development and mechanical testing activities as well as
    • in design reviews and cadaver labs
    • Working with medical copyeditor to submit peer-reviewed articles
    • Adhering to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies. Ensure Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role
    • Representing the company in a professional manner and uphold the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties of Globus

    IN ORDER TO BE QUALIFIED FOR THIS ROLE, YOU MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:

    • 1-2 years’ experience in a research environment in biomechanical and musculoskeletal areas preferably with medical devices
    • Master’s Degree in the Sciences, Engineering, or Management fields; PhD preferred
    • Proficient in Windows, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to travel up to 15-20% of the time
