    POSITION: JUNIOR SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR  

    IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: DIRECTOR OF SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION

    The Junior Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting Gnomon’s business and technical requirements, including networking, server hardware/software maintenance, E-mail, backup solutions, security, cloud computing, and policies and procedures development. IT support is needed for approximately 50 staff members, 100 faculty members, and a student body of approximately 400 students. Areas of core competencies include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting, server maintenance, software installation, and general IT support. Required soft skills include, but are not limited to, reliability, clear communication, adaptability, time management, and collaboration.     Essential Functions, but not limited to the following:

    • Maintain the various computer systems owned or operated by the company
    • Test, validate, and install operating system and application security/performance patches
    • Provide end-user support, resolving technical issues and providing technical assistance for all operating systems and applications
    • Provide in-person and remote support through use of the telephone or remote access
    • Installation, imaging (SmartImager), software deployment (PDQ) and support for staff and lab workstations.
    • Installation and support of peripheral devices (printers, wi-fi, etc.).
    • Backup, maintenance and monitoring of Gnomons’ servers.
    • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP maintenance and support.
    • Office 365 and Azure AD maintenance and support.
    • Assist in network and AV setup for new and existing classroom/lab spaces.
    • Research, design, implement, configure, monitor, troubleshoot and evaluate existing and new operating systems and applications.
    • Direct third-party vendors who may be involved in diagnosing and correcting system related issues and assisting with solutions
    • Support management with IT requests and potential new implementations.
    • Provide new employees with required hardware and appropriate access to the company’s computer systems
    • Support tech setup for Gnomon events (audio, visual and lighting), when needed.
    • Create, change, and delete user domain and email accounts
    • Maintain job knowledge by attending workshops and/or participating in professional development.
    • Maintain a high level of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.  
    • Conduct all activities in accordance with the highest ethical standards. Adhere to all state, and federal accreditation and school rules and regulations regarding student recruitment.

    Education/Experience:

    • BA/BS desired in a Business or Computer Science field or equivalent work experience
    • 2 or more years of experience in system administration or IT. Preferably in VFX or Post Production.
    • Knowledge of workstation system hardware for troubleshooting and repair purposes.
    • Windows support and configuration skills: Windows 10 and higher.
    • Familiar with Windows Server operating systems and configurations.
    • Familiar with Microsoft Active Directory including DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP networking.
    • Familiar with mixed wired and wireless Ethernet network infrastructure: Cabling (CAT5/6 and Fiber), Firewalls, Routers, Switches, etc.
    • Experience with scripting using Microsoft PowerShell.
    • Experience using and/or supporting a variety of digital content creation tools including, but not limited to: Autodesk Maya, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Nuke and Mari by The Foundry, etc.
    • CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional

     

    Competencies:

    • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
    • Familiarity with Direct Attached Storage maintenance as well as SAN infrastructures.
    • Capable of lifting 50lbs
    • Extreme attention to detail, including top-notch organizing and multitasking skills to meet tight deadlines, handle multiple projects and prioritize accordingly  
    • Highly collaborative with excellent work ethic to produce deliverables with speed and humility
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively meet demands of shifting marketing parameters   
    • Strong and clear communication skills, including ability to empathize with vastly different cross-functional teams
    • Strong personal accountability, problem solving and time management skills
