    Job Description

    Go-Staff, one of the largest staffing agencies in San Diego County is currently seeking qualified and experienced candidates for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bookkeeping, and Purchasing for some of our top clients. You will be responsible for preparing and examining financial records for our clients.

    JOB SUMMARY Manage accounting department providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all the organizational activities to assist management, its Board of Directors, and other users in making educated economic decisions about the organization’s future.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.

    • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data.

    • Manage the treasury functions and ensure internal controls are maintained and assets are safeguarded.

    • Oversees the production of monthly financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

    • Recommends benchmarks and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that will be used to measure the organization’s performance.

    • Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.

    • Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.

    • Oversee the activities of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and payroll.

    • Collaborates with the Development Department to gather and disseminate financial information for grant payment schedule or contracts.

    • Collaborates cross functionally to support national organization requirements as well as specific program requirements.

    • Participates in a wide variety of special projects and compiles a variety of special reports.

    • Communicates with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a respectful, courteous, and professional manner.

    • Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.

    INTERACTION This position will interact closely with the Executive Team and Managers of the organization and provides information to agency representatives and internal staff.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Provides direct and full scope supervisory responsibilities to accounting staff including mentoring and training to help each member in their professional development.

    EDUCATION / YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Related Area preferred with a minimum of 7 years strong accounting experience including five years managing staff.

    • Non-profit Accounting experience preferred.

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Commitment to understanding and supporting organization mission. Shows compassion and appreciation for hunger issues.

    • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

    • General knowledge of nonprofit organizational practices.

    • A professional demeanor with an aptitude for analytical thinking and creative problem solving.

    • Responsible, well organized, and demonstrates initiative.

    • Strong proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel, Concur Accounts Payable and Expense management, MicrosoftNAV ERP system desirable.

    • Ability to learn and adapt to various accounting and reporting software programs quickly

    • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines, maintaining calm.

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

    • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills.

    • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, organizational, and public speaking skills.

     

    LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

    Certifications in accounting, non-profit, or professional management a plus, but not required.

    PHYSICAL, MENTAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

    • Work in an office adjacent to a warehouse setting with occasional travel to other locations in San Diego County.

    • Sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel and uses hands, arms and legs for dexterity, balance and climbing stairs frequently. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.

    • Occasionally lifts, carries, and balances objects weighing up to 30 pounds.

    • Pulls and pushes such objects as file drawers and supplies.

    • Prioritizes and multi-tasks work and projects requiring good memory, concentration, and analytical thinking.

    • Occasionally is required to perform the safe operation of office equipment and machines as well as recognize and abate safety hazards within the workplace.

     

    THE NOISE LEVEL IN THE WORK ENVIRONMENT IS USUALLY QUIET BUT THIS OFFICE IS HOUSED IN A DISTRIBUTION CENTER WITH MACHINERY AND LARGE TRUCKS.
