    Job Description

As a product designer, you define new digital experiences and raise the bar on innovative interactivity. You believe in the power of good design to not only tell a story, but move people to action. You have a mature understanding of data and the way it can inform, but not lead, design. Always looking to the future, you’re passionate about experimenting with new processes, technologies, and tools. Does this sound like you? Godfrey Dadich Partners is looking for a thoughtful, innovative, and agile product designer. Godfrey Dadich Partners brings together the best of journalism, strategy, and design into The New Editorial. We believe digital design will play a major role in our vision, by bringing storytelling to new media and advancing frontiers across XR and AI. As a product designer, you will help us shape this vision and bring it to life. This role, which reports to the design director of emergent experiences, drives projects from discovery to launch, conducting research, aligning strategic goals, and exploring prototypes to solve problems. Expertise in a specific domain is helpful, but you should ultimately consider yourself a design generalist with interests that range across the spectrum of designing media both new and old. Whatever the brief, you seek to build an authentic connection with audiences, to surprise, inform, and delight. This client-facing role is based in either San Francisco or New York City. The Godfrey Dadich offices are currently closed and the team is fully remote, but ultimately we will return to hybrid and in-person work when it’s safe to do so. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Define and lead projects from research through to polished design systems.
    • Conduct design research, including market trends analysis, comparative studies, stakeholder interviews, and user testing to uncover human-centered goals.
    • Rapidly iterate on digital concepts that meet client business objectives and their users’ needs. This requires an aptitude for fast explorations with a clear vision for how experiences would perform under pressures of scale, inclusivity, and technological limits.
    • Shape and deliver presentations that tell a compelling story—that effectively articulate the concept and convey the strategy or system underlying a proposed design.
    • Collaborate across disciplines including brand strategy, brand design, motion design, sound design, engineering, and production design to develop quality rationale, concepts, and executions.

    QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

    • 5+ years experience in product design or digital design; however, less experienced candidates with advanced portfolios should also apply.
    • Demonstrated understanding of design research: conducting interviews, synthesizing findings, developing user personas, defining design principles, creating comparative matrices, identifying market trends and thoughtful responses to them.
    • Experience in rapid high-fidelity prototyping. Familiarity with Figma prototyping and design system management is required. Experience with more advanced tools, like Framer or Origami, is preferred.
    • Fluency with other design tools, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects. Competency working in Keynote and G Suite products needed as well.
    • Strong knowledge of best practices related to accessibility, motion design, and especially typography (character and line spacing, composition, glyphs, and readability).
    • Experience with AR, VR, or AI is highly valued.
    • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex, sometimes abstract, concepts clearly and persuasively.
    • Highly collaborative, organized, and resourceful approach. A self-starter who proactively sets benchmarks and aligns expectations.

Godfrey Dadich is an organization dedicated to ideas, process, and vision. But we know that true success comes from people. We are always looking for new collaborators who believe optimism is a strategy for making a better future. We recognize that great stories come from people with all manner of backgrounds and experiences. We are committed to building a more diverse and inclusive team, we value different points of view, and we welcome unconventional paths. If your experience doesn’t entirely conform to the qualifications listed above, please apply with a cover letter to let us know how you believe you can bring your unique skills to the GDP team. Please share a link to an online portfolio showcasing relevant client work. (Include passwords if needed.)
