Goetz & Eckland is looking for a Legal Assistant to add to our office staff in Minneapolis. We serve clients locally, regionally, and nationally, working in criminal defense and civil litigation. We seek a highly-motivated individual to be a key member of our team. We are looking for someone who enjoys variety, is flexible, anticipates needs and demonstrates initiative. Timeliness, attention to detail, and good organizational skills are a must, as is a friendly demeanor with other staff, clients and vendors. Knowledge and Responsibilities: - E-file and serve in state, federal, and appellate courts. - Typing dictated letters, documents, briefs and legal memoranda. - Docket court dates and case deadlines. - Organize and maintain existing digital and physical filing system. - Research and develop relevant information under direction of attorneys. - Process and reconcile case expenses and invoices; assist with timekeeping. - Communicate with clients, court personnel, lawyers, opposing counsel and other staff. - Administrative functions (i.e., schedule meetings, distribute/send mail, screen and place phone calls, and arranging/creating virtual meetings) - Other tasks as assigned. Required Qualifications: - Legal secretarial/paralegal certificate or college preferred. - Experience and knowledge of electronic federal and state court filings, rules, processes and procedures. - Highly proficient software skills using Word, Outlook, Adobe, some Excel and a willingness to learn new systems and applications. - Ability to transcribe from a dictation recording. - Excellent proofreading and grammar skills. Compensation: $50,000 to $60,000 salary range (depending on qualifications); Medical Insurance; 401(k) Eligibility; Paid time off; Bonus Eligibility. Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
