Job Description
We are seeking a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and customer-oriented Gold Buyer to join our team. The ideal candidate will assess, authenticate, and purchase gold and other precious metals from customers while providing excellent service and ensuring accurate valuation and documentation. Experience in jewelry, pawn, or precious metals is highly desirable. This role requires regular travel to off-site events and gold buying shows.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate and Test Precious Metals:
Assess the purity, weight, and authenticity of gold, silver, and other metals using industry tools (acid tests, magnets, scales, etc.).
Customer Service:
Greet clients, explain the buying process, and provide fair and transparent offers based on market value.
Negotiate and Close Purchases:
Make competitive purchase offers and negotiate when necessary while adhering to company pricing guidelines.
Recordkeeping and Compliance:
Maintain detailed records of purchases, customer information, and transactions per state and federal regulations.
Market Knowledge:
Stay informed on current precious metal market trends and prices to ensure accurate appraisals and fair offers.
Security and Integrity:
Follow all security protocols for handling valuables, cash, and sensitive customer data.
Event Participation:
Travel regularly to participate in gold buying shows and off-site events as a representative of the company.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred)
1+ years of experience in jewelry, pawn, or precious metal appraisal (preferred)
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify counterfeit or misrepresented items
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Basic math and computer literacy
Ability to work independently and handle sensitive situations with discretion
Willingness and ability to travel regularly for events and shows
Working Conditions:
Retail environment, trade shows, or private buying events
May involve standing for extended periods and handling small, detailed objects
Background check may be required due to handling high-value items
