    Background

    Golden State Dermatology (GSD) is a leading and comprehensive dermatology group with 23 locations 

    and  60  providers  throughout  the  Central  Valley  and  San  Francisco  Bay  Area.  Services  

    include dermatology, cosmetics, radiotherapy, Mohs surgery for skin cancer, pathology, and plastic 

    surgery. GSD has a mission to deliver the highest quality care and a great patient, provider, and 

    staff experience. GSD is rapidly growing with plans to continue its grow in its current markets and 

    new markets in the Western  United  States.  GSD’s  corporate  headquarters  is  located  in  

    Walnut  Creek,  CA.  GSD  is  a physician owned group with a leading private equity investor.

    Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Marketing Director leads the organization’s marketing 

    strategy  and  implementation.  This  role  will  coordinate  marketing  efforts  with  GSD’s  

    marketing agencies and Office Managers and  solicit feedback and gain alignment from the Senior 

    Leadership Team, physician leaders and the Board. GSD is a growth organization that believes 

    marketing can play a critical role in value creation. GSD is an entrepreneurial environment, so the 

    right person will be comfortable with a fast pace, be flexible / adaptable, and willing to rollup 

    his / her sleeves to complete deliverables.

    Job Responsibilities

    •     Develop GSD’s marketing strategy, create the appropriate budget and define its brand.

    •     Build  out  the  right  complement  of  internal  and  external  resources  to  build  a  

    best-in-class marketing capability for an organization of GSD’s size and ambitions. Effectively 

    manage the team and vendors.

    •     Increase  referrals  across  GSD’s  network  of  providers  (e.g.,  plastic  surgery,  Mohs,  

    cosmetic treatment).

    •     Grow the average per patient expenditures and visits for existing patients. This includes 

    medical care, elective cosmetic care, and product sales. Develop strategies to increase cosmetic 

    care and product sales.

    •     Continuously  develop  and  maintain  positive  relationships  with  existing  and  new  

    referral providers inclusive of primary care providers, other dermatologists, others specialists.

    •      Develop a field marketing capability.

    •     Help position the organization favorably to prospective acquisition targets and investors.

    •     Own and drive marketing’s Key Performance Indicators with a focus on efficiently driving 

    patients to the clinics. Host monthly marketing performance review sessions.

    •     Develop internal partnerships with providers, Office Managers, the Senior Leadership Team, 

    marketing agencies, and others as needed.

    •     Integrate newly acquired practices into GSD (signage, website, promotional material). Look 

    for ways to improve upon the integration of new practices.

    •     Partner with recruiting and development to develop materials for these functions.

    •     Manage and materially improve the online reputation of the company and providers from both a 

    patient and employee perspective.

    •     Support the development of monthly board updates and quarterly board presentations.

    Job Requirements:

    •     Bachelor’s  degree  or  equivalent  in  marketing,  communications,  business  administration 

     or public relations

    •     At least five years of progressive, successful experience in marketing communications 

    activities for medical offices, medical groups or healthcare organizations  (experience in other 

    service industries may replace healthcare specific experience if a candidate demonstrates 

    capabilities.)

    •     Ability to lead change  and  effective at working cross-functionally and with various types / 

    levels of people in a fast-paced organization

    •     Proactive and a self-starter

    •     The ability to engage, energize and motivate others

    •     Flexible and able to shift focus to address changing priorities when needed

    •     Clear and well-organized communicator (written and verbal)

    •     Analytic skills and the ability to interpret and communicate performance results; experience 

    with Google Analytics

    •     Maturity, self-confidence, presence and the ability to positively represent the organization

    •     Expert level G-Suite and PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point
