We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our accounting team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing paychecks, maintaining accurate payroll records, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Responsibilities:
Process payroll for clients, including hourly and salaried staff.
Calculate and input data for employee earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and other payroll items.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal information, pay rates, benefits, and tax details.
Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer client inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and related matters.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
Review tax payments and necessary tax returns (941s, 940s, state withholding, etc.).
Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll information.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience.
Proficient with payroll software and Google Sheets/MS Excel applications.
Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and tax laws.
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to meet strict deadlines and work independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) credential.
Experience with Gusto, ADP Run, Paycom, or Paylocity payroll software.
