    We are looking for an In-House Human Resources Employment Attorney who will be responsible for all employment-related legal matters pertaining to the company, including litigation matters on behalf of the company. As the Employment Attorney, you will be representing the Company in current and future employment litigation matters. The ideal candidate will advise the HR team and other business leaders about employment and labor law issues including discrimination, wrongful termination, wage, and hour, ADA/FMLA, etc. The Employment Human Resource Attorney will report directly to the COO and CFO.

    Responsibilities:

    Develop strategy and actively manage litigation and claims portfolio from inception to conclusion, including the development and execution of effective litigation management (including discovery) and settlement strategies, budget and outside counsel management, and the negotiation and resolution of pre-litigation disputes

    Strategically manage and oversee outside counsel representing the company in litigation matters and formal proceedings, and advises management on legal matters to guard the organization against legal liability

    Represent and defend the company as necessary in front of applicable federal, state, and local regulatory and enforcement authorities.

    Advise and provide counsel on labor and employment-related matters which may include, but are not limited to, wage and hour law, human resources, workers' compensation, unemployment, and other state agency claims, employee relations, employment agreements, policy-related issues, FMLA, and other states/local leave matters, employment-related litigation, internal employee investigations, and arbitrations.

    Provide advice to management and the Human Resources team on a wide variety of HR and employment practices matters

    Counsel management and the Human Resources team on new or pending federal and state legislation, laws, rules and regulations, industry developments, and trends that affect the company and its operations.

    Provide training on key employment law issues

    Research, develop and implement employment law related compliance procedures and best practices

    Provide preventive advice and counseling on a broad array of workplace issues.

    Lead educational and policy efforts to educate and assist employees regarding employment best practices

    Qualifications:

    Must have a minimum of 5 to 10 years of substantive labor and employment experience (including Litigation Experience) preferably as an In-House Employment Law Attorney or Employment Defense Attorney.

    Must have a JD degree from an accredited law school and be barred in the state of California with good standing.

    Experience in handling labor and employment matters before federal, state courts, and administrative agencies

    Excellent legal writing and research skills.

    Knowledge and expertise in Labor & Employment law

    Knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure and California Rules of Court is an essential qualification, federal law experience is a plus.
