Responsibilities

GENERAL MANAGER The General Manager directs gym operations through a team of sales, customer service, janitorial and fitness personnel. The position ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower and maintaining the Gold’s Gym standard of operation. The ideal candidate will be production-oriented and have the ability to direct sales. Candidates must have a strong customer service orientation with proven results. Successful General Managers have a motivated spirit with an open, participative leadership style and drive for excellence. A strong work ethic, integrity, and professional demeanor are essential. Essential Functions Management Duties: Responsible for overseeing the sales process and systems. Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development. Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships. Properly manage and maintain the gym operational budget Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, quality, safety, cleanliness and customer service. Manage, monitor, and evaluate the performance of all gym-related managers. Monitor the hiring, training, and scheduling of all gym level staff as determined through head count needs and budget. Train and mentor subordinates Properly delegate, monitor and evaluate specifically assigned responsibilities of sales team through the Sales Manager. Responsible for managing disciplinary actions involving all gym level employees, ensuring proper protocol is followed. Responsible for holding weekly Department Meetings Responsible for attending weekly Manager Meetings. Other tasks as assigned by the Area Manager or Owner. Operational Duties: Responsible for member satisfaction and ensuring member retention. Provide and maintain the highest level of customer service in a high volume retail environment through personal actions and development of the staff. Provide effective decision making regarding customer service issues. Plan and promote special events for the gym on a monthly basis, using corporate marketing as needed. Responsible for ensuring that the facility is clean and operationally sound. Other tasks as assigned by the Area Manager or Owner. Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time, exempt position. Typical schedule is Monday – Friday, 9:30 – 7:00. Employees are encouraged to work out during the day, provided the gym is meeting or exceeding performance standards. Evening, weekend and occasional overnight hours are on an as needed basis. Required Education, Experience and Certifications High School diploma or equivalent. Five years of professional experience. Understanding of performance metrics including P&L, revenue, budgeting, inventory, payroll, cost controls and facilities maintenance. Current CPR Certification or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment. Company will provide this training if not already certified. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Education, Experience and Certifications Fitness industry experience. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
