  • Responsibilities

    Function: Deliver complete offering of Academy Programs – private, group, youth camp instruction – which includes teaching all aspects of playing the game to all age groups and all skill levels.

    Duties: The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the description listed below. The candidate must be prepared to take on additional responsibilities as part of the GolfDC Academy team.

    Follow our Academy curriculum for group lesson programs, with focus on student retention.

    Provide individual schedule availability as requested by Academy sales management so instructor coverage/supply sufficient to meet lesson demand.

    Be prepared to work at peak times for lessons on weekday evenings and on weekends morning/afternoons.

    Uphold quality and consistency in Academy teaching standards.

    Conduct club fittings, supervised practice and student outings.

    Participate in occasional onsite showcase events and outreach promos, off-site outreach events, including customized workshops.

    Master and use instructor technology for swing analysis and club fitting.

    Attend all mandatory instructor training and team meetings coordinated by Academy Manager.

    Adhere to all Academy operational guidelines and policies, including staff dress code, planned absences, lesson substitution, lesson scheduling, etc. as outlined in the Instructor Playbook.

    Direct any lesson scheduling inquiries by customers to GolfDC Academy Registration office – in person, by phone and online.

    Hours: Part-time and full-time teaching opportunities available. In-season, minimum of 15 hours/week desirable. Limited off-season hours also available, depending on instructor seniority and business needs.

    Required:

    PGA or LPGA affiliation (Membership or pursuit thereof) or USGTF affiliation (Associate, Certified, Master)

    College degree

    Solid knowledge of golf swing fundamentals and mechanics

    5 yrs or more of Hands-on Teaching experience

    Ability to effectively troubleshoot the golf swing

    Personable and people-oriented; excellent oral communication skills

    Works well in team environment

    Energetic, enthusiastic and passionate about growing the game

    Desired:

    Club fitting knowledge / experience

    Experience using Video and Doppler technology in teaching

    Compensation: Teaching Rate $25 to $35 per hour for private/group lessons and club fittings --- commensurate with professional credential; Admin Rate at 50% of Teaching Rate.
