    GROUP DESCRIPTION

    Component Replacement and Repair (CR&R) offers turnkey solutions for the replacement, remediation and repair of nuclear power plant primary system components. Typical projects include Steam Generator Replacement, Pressurizer Weld Overlay, presurized water reactor (PWR) vessel internals bolt replacements, reactor vessel closure head (RVCH) repair, boiling water reactor (BWR) internals repairs, small bore nozzle repairs and replacements, and pressurizer heater repairs and replacements. Many of the projects performed require the tooling to be submerged in water during use.  

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Assist tooling engineers in all facets of tooling design including mechanical design-related tasks using SolidWorks, preparation of detail part and assembly fabrication drawings, tool assembly and qualification testing, shop interface, fabrication follow, and preparation of design documentation including Operating Instructions, Test Plans, and Refurb and Maintenance procedures.

     

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.

     

    Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least four semesters completed by start of internship/co-op.

    Strong academic performance

    3-D CAD proficiency preferably using SolidWorks

    Hands-on aptitude using common hand tools

    Strong technical problem-solving abilities

    Strong interpersonal skills

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

     

    THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE DESIRED AND WILL BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE ALL CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.

     

    • Previous internship/co-op experience in field of study
    • Familiarity with part design for manufacturability
    • Self-performing of maintenance work on cars, motorcycles, or other machinery is preferred
    • Knowledge of hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems to actuate simple mechanisms is preferred
    • Experience with metal fabrication processes is a plus
