The pastry chef is a chef who specializes in all types of baked goods. They must understand and appreciate the subtleties of flavor pairings and different tastes and have a good aesthetic sense for food and pastry presentation. This position is responsible for assisting with the daily preparation of all baked goods and pastries.
Essential Functions

Develop pastry-related recipes and ingredient purchase specifications.
Decorate pastry items for special events such as buffets and receptions.
Supervise bakery employees.
Assist in budget development and monitoring for the bakery.
Maintain the highest professional food quality and sanitation standards.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Minimum five years of pastry experience in a culinary setting
Experience in scratch baking
Impeccable multi-tasking skills
Prior experience in a fine dining environment
Prior experience in a high-volume environment
Culinary Degree preferred
Job Type: Full-Time OR Part-Time: Must be able to work a varied schedule, including PM shifts, weekdays, weekends, holidays
Supervisory Responsibility: No supervisory responsibility
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional hospitality environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment, communicate with others, and effectively interact with guests
Must be able to accept constructive criticism from supervisors
Must be able to work inside and out in all weather conditions
Must be able to maintain all cleaning equipment and materials in a safe and sanitary working condition
Physical Demands: An employee must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently expected to stand for long periods, walk, climb stairs comfortably, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
