    Job Description

    PART-TIME DIGITAL SKILLS INSTRUCTOR POSITION - APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED ONLINE AT WWW.GESGC.ORG. CLICK ON JOIN OUR TEAM TAB.

    MISSION CONTRIBUTION: To assist participants and employees in developing the digital literacy and computer skills needed to obtain, maintain and advance in employment and learning.

    FUNCTION:  To implement digital skills awareness and training into services for GES participants and employees.

    INSTRUCTIONAL DUTIES:

    1.       Provide world class customer service including effective communication with internal and external customers.

    1. Develop an implementation plan to integrate digital skills awareness and training into current services as well as opportunities for employees to broaden their digital and computer skills knowledge.

    2. Provide direct training in introductory/awareness digital skills to include:

      1. Career navigation and exploration
      2. Internet and aptitude assessments
      3. On-line job searches and job applications
    3. Provide direct training in basic computer skills including but not limited to:

      1. Introduction to computers
      2. Keyboarding
      3. Internet use
      4. Windows
      5. Email
      6. Social media
      7. Computer safety
    4. Provide direct training in productivity software skills including but not limited to:

      1. Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
      2. Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, G-mail
      3. POS system, Data Management systems, Brainshark
    5. Develops and leads instructional courses and coordinates exams for Microsoft Office Specialist certifications in Word and Excel (Levels 1 & 2)

    6. Provide guidance, support and training linkages for those interested in entry-level and mid-level digital careers. 

    7. Participates in webinars, conference calls and other learning opportunities with peers and national experts to advance the Goodwill Digital Career Accelerator initiative throughout the organization.

    8. Tracks and reports outcomes internally and externally to Goodwill Industries International (GII).

    9. Enters in demographic and service information into the GES database during the month of service.

    IT SUPPORT DUTIES:

    11.   Troubleshoot network & system issues.

    12.   Provides technical assistance over the phone and in person with end-users.

    13.   Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment.

    14.   Deploy, image, configure, and setup computers and IP phones.

    15.   Research issues on various computer systems and databases to resolve complaints and answer inquiries.

    16.   Purchase, install and configure all new workstations.

    17.   Design, implement, maintain and troubleshoot all communications devices.

    18.   Keep all workstations updated with critical updates, patches, and virus signatures.

    GENERAL DUTIES:

    19.   Communicates regularly with supervisor and reports progress, problems and works as a team to help participants to meet their goals and to achieve program outcomes.

    1. Regular attendance and adherence to hours of operation, as outlined in Goodwill Easterseals’ policy, is required.

    2. Acts as a positive role model for employees in all aspects of professional performance.

    3. Observes all safety procedures and personnel policies and ensures compliance by participants.

    23.   Other duties as assigned.

     

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job).

    1.       Must be able to interact cordially and productively with a variety of people.                             

    2.       Must be able to market Goodwill Easterseals and explain the mission to the general public.               

    3.       Must be able to take initiative and make decisions with little supervision.

    4.       Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.

    5.       Must be able to keep information confidential.

    6.       Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among employees.

    7.       Ability to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.

    8.       Must obtain and retain First Aid/CPR/AED certification and respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency at the worksite according to GES Safety Policies & Procedures.

    9.       Must have a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years, liability automobile insurance and be insurable through the agency’s insurance carrier. 

    10.   Must be at least 21 years of age.

    11.   Must pass a drug screen, including random drug testing as required by the Drug Free Workplace policy. 

     

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    ·        Bachelor’s degree plus two years of closely related experience preferred.

    ·        Five years of closely related experience may be substituted for a degree.

    ·        Two or more years of Information Technology experience preferred; MOS certification preferred

    ·        Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Access required;

    ·        Supervisory, teaching and training experience preferred

    ·        Experience working with people with barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment preferred

    ·        Experience in terminal services, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point) and workstation operating systems preferred.

    ·        Experience with IOS and Android mobile devices.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    ·         Must be able to use hands, fingers and wrists, repetitively while using computer keyboard.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:

    Adequately lighted and ventilated building.   Frequent travel throughout the Gulf Coast area.
