    TITLE: Digital Skills Manager DATE WRITTEN: 06/2020

     

    DEPARTMENT: Digital Skills SUPERVISED BY: VP Mission and Human Services

     

    SUPERVISES: n/a STATUS: FT, Non - Exempt

     

    MISSION CONTRIBUTION: To assist participants and employees in developing the digital literacy, computer skills and access to on-line training needed to obtain, maintain and advance in employment and learning.

     

    FUNCTION: To implement digital skills awareness and training into services for Goodwill participants and employees.

     

    INSTRUCTIONAL DUTIES:

    1. Provide world class customer service including effective communication with internal and external customers.

    2. Develops, implements and monitors a comprehensive plan to integrate digital skills awareness and training into current service offerings within all Adult Education and Workforce Development programs and expand the program for new participants and target groups within the local community.

    3. Works with Goodwill leadership teams and HRT to develop assessment and training programs specific to the professional development needs of Goodwill employees across all departments.

    4. Coordinates the Career Campus Project, the Skills 2 Succeed initiative and other credentialed training courses by developing schedules, adding users, facilitating classes, monitoring progress and generating reports.

    5. Aggressively markets the Goodwill Digital Skills/Career Campus programs to external service organizations, potential funders, employers, businesses and others who may benefit from access to those opportunities.

    6. Proctors Northstar assessments and certification testing through Certiport and AHLEI.

    7. Provide direct training in introductory/awareness digital skills to include:

      1. Career navigation and exploration
      2. Internet and aptitude assessments
      3. On-line job searches and job applications
    8. Provide direct training in basic computer skills including but not limited to:

      1. Introduction to computers
      2. Keyboarding
      3. Internet use
      4. Windows
      5. Email
      6. Social media
      7. Computer safety
    9. Provide direct training in productivity software skills including but not limited to:

      1. Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
      2. Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, G-mail
      3. POS system, Data Management systems
    10. Provide guidance, support and training linka Goodwill for those interested in entry-level and mid-level digital careers.

    11. Assists with troubleshooting minor employee computer problems and trains staff to correct and prevent software and hardware difficulties through education and support.

    12. Participates in webinars, conference calls and other learning opportunities with peers and national experts to advance the Goodwill Digital Career Accelerator initiative throughout the organization.

    13. Tracks and reports outcomes internally and externally to Goodwill Industries International (GII).

    14. Enters in demographic and service information into the Goodwill database during the month of service.

     

    GENERAL DUTIES:

    1. Communicates regularly with supervisor and reports progress, problems and works as a team to help participants to meet their goals and to achieve program outcomes.
    2. Regular attendance and adherence to hours of operation, as outlined in Goodwill of the Gulf Coasts policy, is required.
    3. Acts as a positive role model for employees in all aspects of professional performance.
    4. Observes all safety procedures and personnel policies and ensures compliance by participants.
    5. Other duties as assigned.

     

     

    Qualifications

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: (these are required to enable job holder to perform the essential functions of the job).

      1. Must be able to interact cordially and productively with a variety of people.
      2. Must be able to market Goodwill of the Gulf Coast and explain the mission to the general public.
      3. Must be able to take initiative and make decisions with little supervision.
      4. Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
      5. Must be able to keep participant information confidential.
      6. Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with, and among employees.
      7. Ability to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.
      8. Must obtain and retain First Aid/CPR/AED certification and respond to and manage a first aid, choking or sudden cardiac arrest emergency at the worksite according to Goodwills Safety Policies & Procedures.
      9. Must have a valid drivers license for at least 3 years, liability automobile insurance and be insurable through the agencys insurance carrier.
      10. Must be at least 21 years of age.
      11. Must pass a drug screen, including random drug testing as required by the Drug Free Workplace policy.

     

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelors degree plus two years of closely related experience preferred.
    • Five years of closely related experience may be substituted for a degree.
    • Two or more years of Information Technology experience preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Access required.
    • Supervisory, teaching and training experience required.
    • Experience working with people with barriers to obtaining and maintaining employment preferred
    • Experience in terminal services, Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point) and workstation operating systems preferred.
    • Experience with IOS and Android mobile devices.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to use hands, fingers and wrists, repetitively while using computer keyboard.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS:

    Adequately lighted and ventilated building. Frequent travel throughout the Gulf Coast area.
