Career Development Specialist
How this role supports our Mission: The Primary role of the Career Development Specialist (CDS) is to serve the public, including individuals with various barriers to employment and Goodwill employees, with job placement assistance and referrals to community resources. The CDS interacts with Goodwill Industries' Workforce Development and Retail division staff and management, the public, employers and community service providers. The CDS provides services to individuals with a wide variety of barriers to employment. * Goodwill of Southern Arizona has 6 Career Services Centers, 4 in Tucson, 1 in Sierra Vista and 1 in Casa Grande. This position is based in Sierra Vista (onsite) * Goodwill supports an environment of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion! * There is direct contact with members of the public, all day, every day. The Career Specialist staffs the Career Center Monday - Friday from 8:00 - 5:00 and may be serving 5+ clients at a time. The primary job functions of the Career Development Specialist include: * Coordinates and delivers skills development workshops/training. * Responsible for assisting members of the community in gaining employment (job placement) and conducting employer and agency outreach. * Responsible for assisting clients with job applications, job searching, resume development and interview preparation. * Responsible for referring clients to community resource agencies. * Responsible for delivering live-classroom "Next-Level" Skills Development workshops for: * Digital Skills * Workplace Skills * Money Skills * Career Skills * Developing Agency and employer relationships that link clients with Hiring Events and community services. * Providing next-level career development services that include: * Personalized Career Development Action Plans * Connecting clients to learning opportunities that can lift them into living wage jobs / careers. * Sustained connection with clients that helps them build toward continued measurable outcomes that enhance the quality of their lives Workforce Development Division culture focuses on outcomes and promotes healthy accountability that rewards next-level performance. Reliable transportation is required and there is occasional travel in Sierra Vista and also to Tucson. Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in, Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Services, Counseling Psychology, or related area * At least three (3) years of experience providing direct case managed services to clients. * Familiar with job market, job search techniques and local community resources and support services * Experienced with conducting workshops and/or classes using cloud-based teaching resources.
