    Job Description

    PART-TIME ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST- NON-PROFIT- COLORADO SPRINGS, CO 80907- $25.00-$28.00/HOUR

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Our Client is a dual county consortium serving both El Paso and Teller Counties. Performs cost accounting functions, controls small petty cash fund, processes accounts receivable and accounts payable, prepares a variety of accounting-related reports, and executes other related activities essential to the daily administration of the finance group. Collaborates to implement programs, policies and procedures; assess adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements. Position is subject to grant funding.
    • Performs cost accounting functions, maintains special logs, records balances, and reconciles internal accounts with the County system; verifies accuracy and completeness and makes necessary adjustments. Prepares necessary entries; assists in preparing a variety of straightforward special and recurring accounting-related reports, summaries, financial statements, statistical reports, and reconciliations.
    • Processes accounts receivable and accounts payable; verifies invoices, ensures proper expenditure line disbursements. Monitors accounts receivable collections from individuals, organizations, and public institutions; reconciles customer accounts and fee-for-service activities; prepares appropriate postings.
    • Prepares, verifies, and encodes requisitions, invoices, complex journal entries, or other transaction documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with pertinent internal policies, regulatory requirements, and other legal mandates; approves transaction documents within designated limits.
    • Analyzes and verifies authorization reports ensuring that expense documents, training vouchers, and client budget deductions are accurate and allocated to the appropriate expenditure lines; determines funds availability for expenditures, monitors fund balances, and consults with CLIENT Finance Manager on any issues or unusual matters of significance.
    • Assists external auditors and monitors, during unscheduled and year-end financial reviews, with preparation of schedules and invoices; provides explanation of supporting materials and procedures; prepares any requested data, statistical reports, or other relevant information.
    • Supports preparation of monthly financial statements, income statements, balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected organizational financial position.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associate's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

    • Minimum one (1) year experience in corporate finance, municipal finance, or cost accounting.

    • A flexible team player with the ability to work successfully in a changing environment.

    • High level of interpersonal skills and integrity to handle sensitive and confidential situations and information.

    • Ability to analyze data and statistics, prepare statistical reports, and deliver information in an accurate and comprehensible manner.

    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with government officials, colleagues, vendors, and the general public.

    • Ability to build strong working relationships, internal and external to the organization.

    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.

    • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Office software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

    • Must be receptive to adoption and application of new and innovative technologies and technological platforms.

    • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Wagner-Peyser, Workforce Investment Board (WIB), City and CLIENT policies, programs, and guidelines to achieve the overall objectives of the position.

    • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

    • Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen.

    LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:

    • Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License.

    WORK CONDITIONS:

    Work primarily performed in an office environment; some travel may be required. Will be required to work evenings and weekends as business needs dictate.
