    Job Description

    PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

    Aspire embraces flexibility, individualized attention, and community integration. The program provides engaging experiences both at the Goodwill facility and out in the community. Individuals choose curriculum-based modules that meet their interests and will support their independence and participation in community life and/or work.

    Modules may include: computer literacy, career exploration, self-care and advocacy, financial literacy, recreation, wellness, cooking and nutrition, art and music, adult basic special education, volunteering, managing an apart­ment, transportation and mobility, and more.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    As the Aspire PROGRAM ASSISTANT you would be responsible for supporting program participants in developing increased levels of community integration and employability skills by facilitating learning activities, coaching, and/or otherwise mentoring participants.  This position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, helping to implement goals and document goal progress.  A Valid driver’s license is required.

    DUTIES WILL ALSO INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Provide direct support to participants by providing teaching and mentoring skills development per established curriculum and corresponding skills-building activities, coaching in daily living or employment skills including proper socialization and interactions with community members in order to develop natural supports and promote higher levels of independence and, when possible, transitional employment.
    • Plan and facilitate new activities, in the community and facility-based, for participants that meet their needs and facilitate attainment of individual program plan goals.
    • Provide transportation to participants for purpose of ensuring their ability to participate in community-based activities.
    • Collect, document, and report, as needed and requested, program data to ensure compliance with regulations and established best practices.
    • Ensure the safety and welfare of participants and facility.

    EXTERNAL HIRING RANGE:  $13.50 up to $14.04/hour

    SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday (8:00am - 3:30pm) schedule can vary depending on department needs.

    TRAVEL REQUIRED:  Yes, staff may be asked to transport program participants in Goodwill vehicles for volunteering and/or community enrichment activities. 

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent AND 1 or more years’ experience required.

    _REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: must be in working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD). _

    REQUIRED CLEARANCES, LICENSES, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

    • Candidates are expected to provide current valid clearances (Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Fingerprints Clearance, and PATCH) prior to first day of employment.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
    • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certifications required within the first 90 days of employment.
