The Activities Specialist will implement activities in the community for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities to enhance their independence and participation in community life. 

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Transporting participants on outings and volunteer experiences in the community such as the Pittsburgh Zoo, Museums, and local restaurants for lunch, to name a few
• Helping plan and facilitate new activities, and provide support to participants in the areas of socialization, health, wellness and safety.
• Overseeing the participants behaviors and encourage quality relationships with participants through the utilization of interpersonal skills.
• Providing information, resources, and guidance to participants on health, wellness, safety, and self-advocacy, etc.
• Submitting daily progress notes via the designated system and process to track outcomes
• Participate in staff and other required meetings

EXTERNAL HIRING RANGE:  $11.29 up to $12.34/Hour

TRAVEL REQUIRED:  yes, must have a valid driver’s license.

SCHEDULE: This position offers daytime hours working Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with some flexibility required. 

Qualifications

• Education
  • Required
    • GED or better.
    • High School or better.
• Experience
  • Required
    • 1 year: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years’ experience working with ID/DD population.
