    Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately-held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast, with offices located throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.

    Goodwyn, Mills & Cawood, Inc. is actively seeking a CADD Technician who has experience in designing and drafting civil projects. This CADD Technician position will be located in the Daphne/Mobile, AL office. The first 2 months will require working out of the Montgomery, AL office for training. The CADD Technician will assist in the preparation of design and construction documents of an advanced complexity level.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Acquires thorough understanding of CADD software
    • Develops broad knowledge of the design process and understands company standards
    • Develops skills in a specific practice area
    • Evaluates, selects, and applies standards techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with a few complex features
    • Performs more advanced drafting tasks
    • Demonstrates the ability to integrate multiple components of design (i.e. structural, civil, electrical, etc.)
    • Coordinates work with engineers, architects, other technicians and/or administrative staff
    • Receives general supervision on assignments, and general review of all aspects of work
    • Demonstrates continuous improvement with initiative, and adaptability and quantity and quality of work
    • Effectively and efficiently completes assigned tasks
    • Possesses basic oral and written communication skills
    • Interacts well with staff

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associate’s Degree in Drafting/Engineering Technology/Architecture or equivalent from an accredited college or technical school or equivalent experience or accreditation.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD
    • Basic understanding of building codes, building systems, and engineering systems
    • Basic understanding of the tasks associated with the preparation of construction documents
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Basic knowledge of A&E work standards, processes, and policies
    • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, to manage deadlines and prioritize assignments
