    About Us

    The Goose Creek Rural Fire Department is a combination paid/volunteer fire department in Berkeley County, SC. Our primary coverage area is the unicorporated areas of Goose Creek. We provide full time coverage with both part-time and volunteer staff. We protect a district of over 600 residences, 5 shopping centers, 5 schools, 13 apartment complexes, 9 industrial facilities, and a population of over 18,000. We staff a fleet of 2 Engines, 1 Squad/Rescue, 1 Tower Ladder, 2 Staff Vehicles, and 3 Chief Officer vehicles housed in 2 stations. Our Headquarters Station is located at 907 Red Bank Rd and our Mount Holly Station located at 156 Old Mount Holly Rd.

    Job Description

    We are looking for a Volunteer Administrative Assistant to support and be a part of our team. You will handle mostly business-related tasks for the team such as basic financial and human resources, data entry, scheduling, and other organizational tasks. To do this role properly, you should be an organized person who is able to problem solve and have a positive disposition when faced with multiple tasks. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Emergency Reporting and QuickBooks is a plus.

    Job Responsibilites: include but are not limited to...

    Check and sort mail

    Answer and route all incoming calls

    Greet visitors to the Station and assist them with requests

    Process invoices

    Enroll/Modify personnel insurance

    Prepare invoices for book keeper

    Enter information related to incident reports, training reports, and equipment testing records

    Online and local purchasing (office supplies, fuel, food for meetings, etc.)

    Run and/or create basic reports for analysis by command staff (Quick Books, ER, and Excel)

    Maintain schedule and remind personnel of meetings, travel, errands

    Job Qualifications

    At least two years of related experience preferred

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    Strong problem solving skills and analytical abilities

    Proficient in Window 10 and Microsoft Office
